You’ve captured the boys’, and Severus’s, feelings so beautifully. This was a lovely, angsty chapter. And I love that Severus is letting Harry use magic at the manor even the most basic tasks, so that it becomes second nature to him - a very wise strategy.

I absolutely love it. He's tender and stern. The perfect mixture. He's not a perfect person or a perfect parent by far...and I will point out here that no one is. Every parent makes regretful decisions...but...he's doing his best...just like most parents try. And I actually wish he was my parent. This chapter stirred a longing in me and...I honestly hope to be at least half the parent that Sev is, as you portrayed him, here.
Author's Response: Thanks so much! I'm so glad you liked this part. ou're absolutely right and anyone who thinks there is such a thing is living in a dream world. Some readers expect him to be this all-knowing person and get angry when he's not. But like you said . . .the important thing is he tries.
I feel bad for Draco even though he did act like a brat. I imagine that he must be feeling like an only child who suddenly gets another sibling. That happened to me and it was really hard to deal with at first. Great chapter, I can't wait to find out more about Draco. I hope he finds out more about Harry's home life soon.
Author's Response: You have Draco down perfectly, because that's exactly what he feels like. He was the only kid in Sev's life and all of a sudden Sev has a son, and not just ANY son, but his chief rival. That really makes him nuts. And also afraid that Sev will like Harry better. He'll be finding out about Harry's home life soon. And vice versa.

Wow that was some chapter! draco and Harry quarreling, well that was coming. And then poor Harry's anxiety attack. Man that really scared me. Good thing Severus was there to help him through it.

Well, it looks like they're off to a rocky start, as I expected. In a way, i feel alittle sorry for draco, since he has no good examples for parents. Still maybe Sev can change that. And I felt really bad for Harry after that anxiety attack! What a way to spend the night!
Author's Response: Yes, Harry has a rough road ahead of him, nightmare wise. And Severus will be working on Draco, making sure he knows how to behave.
Those two remind me of my son & his cousin, who fought just like that one summer. But eventually they ended up friends and hopefully that'll happen here. Poor Sev, he's going to go crazy. But he handled it well.

Wow what a chapter! I liked the emotion you prjected and I agree with Sev entirely, wars are not for children. I hope Draco will behave himself with Harry, but toherwise, Sev will keep him in line.

I thought the way Sev dealt with them was fair and I think the boys will continue fighting with each other. Loved the way Harry finally called Sev dad!
Author's Response: You bet they will, they've got plenty of frustration to work out. And yes, finally Harry has given Sev his due!
Oh there's nothing like a bit of sibling rivralry especially when its fraught with ambigious and unclarified feeling, it just spices things up.
I liked the little soliloquy at the end, there's nothing like Snape wrestling with his self; his heart with his head, and your way of doing spices things up almost as much as the rivarly part. I particularly enjoyed how you resolved his dilemma at the end with the imagery, it has a certain satisfying feeling to it. ... He finds peace and is able sleep deeply until the dawn broke and with it a new day, under which his new vow rules. Lovely.
Can't wait for the next installment :)
