Reviews For The Heir to Prince Manor
Author's Response: Yes, they did, I loved making Hedwig into a mother.
I like Hedwig having babies! That's so cute! *Is happy* Author's Response: I loved making Hedwig have babies! Out of curiosity what do you have instead? I'm a former teacher, and I've always wondered how school systems differ in other countries. Oh, and thanks as always for revewing!
Sev's reaction to Harry's grades was perfectly written and exactly the reassurance he needed. Thanks for the terrific chapter! I prefer staying at the Taj when in A.C. :) Author's Response: Okay, I'll let them know! LOL! Incidentally that food fight was based on a real one my nephews had and they were cousins who didn't get along either in the beginning just like Harry and Draco, so a lot of this story is based upon them. I'm glad you liked the way Sev handled Harry's grade issue, I didn't want to make him be too harsh.
Author's Response: All right! Thanks for reviewing!
I agree with Sev, I don't believe in spanking a child for a bad grade (unless the child was deliberately skipping classes or deliberately not doing homework /assignments etc). What must be remembered is that before Harry had no one who cared about how he was doing in school he could have come home with all T’s (or all O’s) and no one would have cared (not just the Dursleys but even McGonagall ever called him up on his grades) – it was left entirely up to Harry to be self motivated and to set his own standards in his school work. Now he has a father who cares, who is interested in his development and his future (other than fighting Voldie) who can guide him and show him how to study and who Harry is now accountable. Deep down Harry knows he could have done better and now wishes he had done so to make his father proud but at the time there were no expectations on him. Sev should look more carefully at all his grades not just the one he failed but also the other subjects the ones he got A’s in as well (except potions - with all the help in potions I doubt that he would get another A in potions). Sev had given him lessons in writing with the quill etc now he should make sure that Harry has lessons in how to study. Author's Response: That's exactly the way I was raised, as a matter of fact. My father set very high academic standards, but if we happened to not be doing well in something, either he would help us or get a tutor to help us. The only time we ever got in real trouble was if we cut class or never turned in homework. And you're right about Harry never having anyone who gave a damn about his grades, except to make sure he didn't outperform Dudley, and how he had to monitor himself. Now of course, Severus is there to make sure he learns proper study habits and all, and of course he will make sure Harry is doing his best in school once they get back there.
Author's Response: Aww, thanks, I love animals, though I've never seen baby owls outside of a TV show. And I'm glad that Sev and Harry's reactions were believable.
Author's Response: yay! Thanks for the awesome review and just wait till you see what happens next. It's pretty funny, and you'll learn the name of the owlets in the next chapter as well. I'll put the order in for your potion and book you a tour bus to AC.
Author's Response: You'll be finding that out next chapter. As for the grades, it all has to do with expectations. parents want their kids to do well in school and if they don't think they're doing all they can to get good grades, it's typical to ground them or whatever till they bring their grades up. Some parents are satisfied with C & B's, others want all A's. (like mine did).
I'll take my potion now, and my free trip! Sorry, Professor, no you can't use my finger in your potion! Author's Response: Thanks and that last part was really funny! *sev glares at you now!*
Okay, now for my review. :) First off, I love the whole thing with Hedwig and Stormy having owlets, that's just too cute and beautiful! I loved how Severus went out and took some pics too, great Kodak moment! :) The food fight . . .ROFLMAO!! Especially the Bite Me part. . .too funny! The part about the grades and all, I can sympathize with harry totally, since I was terrified of getting bad marks in school, because then my dad would be disappointed too. It was great Draco shared his own experiences with Harry and reassured him, he's a good "big" brother. I loved the way Severus handled Harry. He was calm, didn't scream, and even though he was very disappointed, he made sure that Harry knew he didn't need to be perfect, unlike the way Micah and Tobias treated him. I liked the line when Harry says he has to get perfect marks because he's a teacher's son and Severus tells him, not necessarily, that's it's okay to mess up. That's a very important thing for a kid to learn. Sev's punishment was fair, he taught Harry a lesson without abusing him or hurting him, and the kid does have to learn the subject and that was a clever way to do it. Loved how he gave Harry his old text too! Brilliant! hey, when's my potion coming? The slots are calling my name! Author's Response: It's a coming, hold your horses! Sev's brewing it as I write this, LOL! And I'm glad you're enjoying this! |
