Reviews For Repairing the Damage
Author's Response: Thanks for the review :)
I'm looking forward to where you're going with this story. Nice job. I can't wait for the next update. Author's Response: Thank you so much... again :) I'm working on the next chapter right now. I'm hoping to have it posted within the next week, which I think is realistic because I'm almost halfway finished writing it now.
Actually, Severus was wrong when he thought if he revealed his own childhood to Harry it wouldn't help. Sometimes what an abused child needs is to know that someone else has been there and how it feels, and that is the best psychological healing. I used that tactic in Moon Fire to get Harry to reveal abuse. I learned about it from my brother-in-law, who is a child psychologist. Oh and one other little thing I thought I'd mention--harry is really too mobile for someone with cracked ribs. It should hurt a heck of a lot more for him to move about, my nephew had cracked ribs and it hurt for him to walk for weeks and that was with wraps and pain killers. I know Harry can tolerate a lot of pain, but this would be really painful and I think you need to make that apparent. Unless he's magically blocking the pain? Anyway, great story so far! Keep writing! Author's Response: Yes, but Severus convinced himself that revealing his own childhood abuse wouldn't help because he is very uncomfortable with displaying too much emotion (especially when he already feels like he has done so to an extent). It's not that he truly believes that it wouldn't help, because he is an intelligent man and knows deep down that it would. He'd just rather tell himself that it won't so he doesn't feel obligated to share something so personal. And as for the issue regarding Harry's ribs, I actually have kept the extreme pain factor in mind (I've never broken my ribs before or known anyone that has, so I ended up doing hours of research on it). I've left it out intentionally and have had plans to address it within the next few chapters. Thank you so much for the review (and constructive criticism, of course)! It's been very helpful and encouraging.
Author's Response: You've posed a very interesting question. Thanks so much for the review. It really means a lot :)
Author's Response: I know, right? Haha. I really have neglected this, unfortunately. What I've done lately is try to post a minimum of one chapter per month, which I think is fairly reasonable. It's really just a matter of getting (and staying motivated), and keeping at it even when I run into writer's block. Thank you so much for the review :)
Author's Response: Of course he would :) I'm not sure if Snape would tell himself that he was checking Harry's homework like most parents do, I think he'd prefer to tell himself that he was doing it to make sure Harry wasn't slacking. And because it's what teachers do. Thanks so much for the review!
Author's Response: Thank you so much :) This is actually the chapter that I'm the most proud of so far. I spent a really long time editing it and trying to make as close to perfect as I could. |
