Great first chapter looking forward to more...I assume the money is coming from an allowance the family gets from the Potter estate to take care of Harry; Petunia knows Harry dumped the alcohol to save Dudley and herself from Vernon's wrath in her own way she cares for the boy. Well I hope Sev comes soon to save Harry (as well as Petunia and Dudley).
Author's Response: Well, you shall certainly see about that. While Severus will not come to save Petunia and Dudley too, you have given me an idea. I think in perhaps the next five chapters or so, I will mention something about how the Dursleys are coping with an alcoholic Vernon. Once again, thanks a lot for your review! :) Look forward to seeing the next chapter quite soon.
Intriguing beginning--do keep going!
Author's Response: Thanks a lot. :) I definitely will keep going. I am going to post the next chapter very soon.
This is a very intriguing start to what I hope will be a decent sized story. I rather like that Petunia and Dudley are against the alchoholism too. I have always found it difficult to believe stories where Petunia encourages her husband to become a drunken child abuser; so this was a nice change of pace. One slight nit-pick: This story takes place after his first year, so I find it unlikely that Hermione and Ron would wonder if Harry was dead. I understand that they would be worried, but having not lived in a world filled with war yet, death would probably not be the first thing that came to mind. All in all, good chapter.
Author's Response: Thanks a lot for your review. :) You do have quite a valid point, but when I wrote this chapter, I rather assumed that Ron and Hermione would still be a bit shaken about Harry's close-call encounter with Voldemort towards the end of the school year. I figured that they might think Voldemort and his followers had perhaps intercepted Harry on his way to the train station or had found a way to get to him at Privet Drive. Thanks for pointing this out though, I'm debating on taking that line out now to avoid further confusion. :)
