Well, I hope Ron comes to his senses. Harry's his best mate!
ooh i hope snape tells ron off! how mean is he ignoring harry like that! at least he has draco, and i do love a re-formed draco lol
I hope he gives it to them good, Ron especially. How can he treat Harry like that? He ought to be glad he has a father who cares about Harry instead of those rotten Dursleys. I hope everything turns out all right, and I'm happy Draco is at least there to support him. Can't wait to see what Severus says to diffuse the situation. And I loved the part about Hedwig, for animals are the truest friends, they never care what you look like, only if you love them. You could look like hell and your dog or cat would still come up and sit in your lap, same as always. My beagle could care less if I look like Medusa in the mornings, which given my hair, is a possibility some days, LOL!
Author's Response: Yeah, my cats were like that - just pet me, when I want to be petted. The dogs just wanted to be loved on whenever. Right now we don't have any pets; although my daughter is campaigning for one. We'll see. And yes, Ron gets lit into - by a surprise person, and I LOVED writing that bit.
Well, that was a bit of a shock! I had a funny feeling that rape was going to crop up somewhere in here, but not that Draco was going to come into it. I like the way you portrayed the two as being bonded by similar experiences, it makes sense. I did the same in Heir To Prince Manor. People often think that just because draco's family was rich and he acts like a spoiled brat that he couldn't have possibly been abused, but I disagree. Abuse has nothing to do with money or poverty, it has to do with power and control. I had to attend classes on child abuse as a preschool teacher in FL to recognize the signs, and I've also known a few victims, and abuse is not just limited to the "lower classes", it crosses all stations of life.
draco's parents were huge supporters of Voldy and it would make sense that Lucius, who abused his house elf, would also abuse his son if he felt like it. Draco uses his father as a shield, but also is afraid of him. And no wonder.
But now, of course, Snape has to deal with two of them, and I hope Harry starts to get better.
Great job. The journal part works really well, those victims I mentioned before had to do that exercise and they said it really helped them.
Author's Response: Thank you, I always appreciate your reviews. I felt the same way about Lucius - he is a right old bastard, and I think it quite canon to believe that Draco was doing a lot of things in fear of the man. SO, I'm giving him an out. The poem I mention is integral to the title of this story and will crop up again in a few chapters, where there will be links to the full version. It is a powerful piece - wish I had written it, but I didn't!
... What is "dopping?" (chapter title)
ugh, you did warn us. :( if only you had warned us that draco would be showing up too. why does every long h/c fic in this fandom seem to include draco!? >:-(
Author's Response: Oh Sheesh, that's what I get for typing on the run! Thanks for the catch!
