i really like this story, i think that Sev would be great for Harry who really needs someone to take care of him and love him...glad that Sev is checking his clothes and other things and he will give the boy the things he needs and wants
Nice beginning. The small twist that Dumbledore only recognized physical abuse as abuse is somewhat different, although you have made it sound as if Arabella has told him it wasn't just neglect and emotional abuse.
Author's Response: My take on this is that when DD grew up, the victorian community at large - and even before that - considered children should be seen and not heard. This was taken so far in the early colonys that in the richer households, wooden cutouts painted to look like the children of the house were placed next to the fireplace to represent them, whilst the actual children were in the nursery. So, DD would only recognize serious abuse as offensive. Also, he will and has in canon, turned a blind eye to the Dursley's abuse as it helped hone his weapon. He also is willing to sacrifice Harry's happiness, short of death, to keep him under the blood wards until Harry is ready to face moldywart.
wow quite an action packed start! i think it was a brilliant, well written first chapter and really look forward to reading some more, i love harry at this age!

Nicely written, and I look farward to seeing the Dursleys get what is coming to them. Severus is great in this and thank you for not making Arabella a useless cariacature. I'm sure I'm not hte only one who wants to wring Albus' neck right now. I'm looking forward to chapter 2 very much.
