Reviews For Arms of a Dark Angel
Author's Response: Thanks so much! I have no intention of leaving you hanging . . .well, not forever. I should be posting again soon.
Author's Response: Quirrell is one, yes. But not the only one. And Voldy doesn't count as a separate entity, since he's sort of possessing Quirrell's body. That's why the man stutters and twitches, because of Voldemort trying to seize control. You'll have to wait and see who the other person is. All will be revealed later.
Author's Response: I know, but I'm known for them. *smirks wickedly and winks at Severus, who rolls his eyes*
What?!? Evil, evil cliffhanger!! *cough* Sorry, I'm done, now...don't want to make you think I don't like it. ;) Other than the cliffhanger, the chapter was excellent, and I suppose even the cliffhanger isn't really that bad; I've read worse...*whines* But I really don't like cliffies...I mean, I don't mind when there's another chapter, 'cause then it's not really a cliffhanger anymore, I just go on to the next chapter, find out what happens, and chuckle at the poor people who'd read the chapter and then had to wait for the next one. *sighs* Well, this time I'm one of those poor people...I'll have to occupy my time while I wait trying to figure out who, besides Quirrell is trying to kill Harry. My first thought was Malfoy, but really, that's ridiculous, because he may be a rich, spoiled bully, but I seriously doubt that he could kill anyone, even Harry, at least as an 11-year-old. Chances are, it's either an older student, say 6th or 7th year, probably one whose parents were followers of Voldy...or it could be another teacher, but I really don't know who. Unless you're going to bring Pettigrew in already...That would make sense, I guess, especially if you're not going to continue this after Harry's first year (though I really hope you do!). Anyway, those are my ideas...Thanks for the update, and please, update again soon!! Author's Response: Yes, do think about it. Quirrell is the obvious one, but I've thrown another person in there as well, and you're right, it isn't Malfoy. And it's not Peter either, he's still hiding out in rat form, but that was a good guess. I will reveal it in a few chapters and I hope it's a surprise! I shall be updating again soon . . .hopefully by tonight.
2. Great use of "hag-ridden"! So apposite and such a juicy word. 3. You're right that arsenic will show up in the hair follicle, but that's only in longer-term (chronic) cases of poisoning. In acute (immediate) cases like what Harry is going thru, they would analyse the stomach contents or vomitus instead. After all, it has only been a few minutes, there has not been nearly enough time for his body to express the poison in his hair! Author's Response: No, but he wanted Snape to be aware of what rumors were floating around and figured Severus would make sure not to be seen by anyone after that. Eventually Harry will learn about Snape's Animagus form, but not till much later on. I really like that word and don't find much of an opportunity to use it.
I wasn't aware that was the case, the site I researched symptoms and cures for arsenic poisoning never said anything about the length of time used to detect traces in hair follicles. But since they did have the frog and were using magic to detect the poison, perhaps I can be forgiven that little slip.
Author's Response: I'll explain some of that in the next chapter, but here's the quick version. Arsenic was commonly referred to as the inheritance poison because back in the eighteen hundreds and even the early nineteen-hundreds, people who were desperate to inherit money or property often used arsenic to kill off a relative and then altered their will so they got everything. Arsenic was fatal and quick acting and could be put in food or drinks and the taste masked so the victim never detected it until it was too late. It was the poison of choice for greedy relatives.
Surprised - no. Terrified out of my wits -yes!!! I would be crewing nails down if I hadn't already crewed while reading Crucio. Harry, Harry, Harry - idiot boy. Don't eat the chocolate. Author's Response: Poor Harry, but he really had no reason to suspect the chocolate frog was poisoned. it was sealed and inside the box with the others he had eaten before. This is a very clever poisoner. I'll be updating soon, so you can stop chewing your fingernails off. *grins* |
