Since I enjoyed Snape being nasty, I thoroughly enjoyed this. The misunderstandings of both parties are very skillfully done.

Author's Response: He'll be nasty for a while, but I can't take it much longer. :o) Snape always seemed to misread Harry in canon, and it's even worse now that he's a guardian instead of a teacher. Thanks for reviewing!

I really enjoyed this chapter. I like how Harry tries to be brave, but deep down, he knows that there's something scary about Snape... The small details like Snape accidentally digging his fingernails into Harry's back when he picked him up were really well-done. It's obvious that Snape doesn't even know he's being so rough. He brushed the dirt off of Harry to keep him clean--rather parental--but did it a little too harshly. That seems to sum Snape up in a nutshell...at least for a mentoring!Snape that's written well.

I'm anxious to see what you have planned for the rest of this story. I'm loving it. :-)

Author's Response: Thanks for your comments! We know how cute Harry must have been at seven, but Snape only sees his old enemy. I think he's protecting himself from being hurt again, as if Harry's going to hex him or humiliate him the way James did. I don't think he'd be so rough with Harry, but subconsciously he's really hurting James. He'll soften eventually, I hope. :o)

Great chapter. This is one of my favourite points in the relationship between Harry and Snape; where Harry gets misunderstood and Snape it grouchy towards him the whole time - it makes me angry when Snape starts behaving this unfairly to Harry (angry in a good way, 'cos it means I'm being drawn into the story!) but I enjoy it, and yours is well phrased. I liked how the handshake was compared to the square egg!

Anyway, it was a very enjoyable read and I hope you update soon!

Author's Response: I get really upset when Snape misinterprets Harry in canon. I think that's why these stories are the most popular, because we can soften him up. Even I cringe at Snape's meanness here, and I wrote it! :o) Thanks for reviewing!

    Aw poor Harry! :(

I really love your writing. Very nice start to the story. You have portrayed Snape so mean and snarkey. In other words, he's perfectly in character!

I hope that Snape lightens up a bit as time goes on, or poor Harry will be worse off, in some ways, than with the Dursleys!

Can't wait to read the next chapter--which I hope will be soon!

Author's Response: Thanks for your comments! Snape will soften a tiny bit over time, but right now, every time he looks at Harry, he sees James. You're right, though; Harry might as well be with the Dursleys. The devil you know is better than the devil you don't . . . but at least he gets a big bed. :o)

Snape's misinterpretation of Harry has me bristling with indignation. Well done! Your Snape seems very much in character. Harry is engaging. I'm anxious as to what the morning will bring. Great chapter.

Author's Response: That's how I usually felt in canon! Indignant. Snape just never listened. He'll probably continue on with this attitude for a while, but I hope they can work it out. Thanks for reviewing!

I really like the beginning to this story. Dumbledore's manipulation and Snape's uncaring attitude drew me in and make me feel defensive of poor little Harry. I loved the way you showed his quick temper in response to Snape's "witch" comment. That certainly has the potential for trouble doesn't it? Post more soon, please!

Author's Response: I feel bad for my Harry, too, because he didn't ask for any of this to happen. I know Snape didn't, either, but then again, he's the reason Harry doesn't have parents. Harry, like most kids, bristles at injustice, but from living with the Dursleys, he's learned to squelch it most of the time. Thanks for your comments!

good chapter, i hope severus learns to accept harry and teaches harry good lessons for his life as it will be hard

Author's Response: I think Snape could be a good parent if he'd let go of his baggage . . . which hopefully I can get him to do, at least eventually. Thanks for the review!

I really like where you're going with this, and the weight limit on the roller coaster was terrific! :) Can't wait for the next chapter.

    Author's Response:

Thanks for reviewing! Hey, anyone can die in a car crash. The Dursleys deserved better. :o) Snape is going to be very mean in the next chapter . . . and probably the one after that, too . . . well, for quite a while, anyway!

omg... i love harry defending his mother from being called a witch!
i've been in the harry potter fandom way too long when i've forgotten that it can actually be considered an insult to be called a witch.

    Author's Response:

Sometimes when people annoy me, I consider using Crucio. And then it hits me. I am on my own. :o) Thanks for reviewing!
