Reviews For Encounter with a Snake
Author's Response: LOL! That's a good thing, right?
Your version of Snape is rather interesting. Usually, I would have a difficult time believing that Severus would purposefully lessen the sting of a spanking, but it's not as if he lets Harry of lightly--he's still Snape-ish in every sense of his scolding. And I found it funny that he actually spanked Harry for failing to pronounce "Slytherin" correctly rather than spanking him for something dangerous. It'd be funny to actually see Harry get caught by Minerva, and perhaps Severus' distress over Harry's actual tears during his punishment. I wonder how he'd deal with the knowledge of someone else punishing little Harry--pretty protective, I'd imagine. Anyway, enough of my babbling. I love your writing style and your knack for story-telling. Keep it up :-) Author's Response: Thanks! I'm delighted that you have discovered it and find it entertaining! It's always intensely flattering to find that an author you have admired enjoys your work, so I really appreciate the review! Yes, this Snape has a core of solid marshmallow (or not-so-solid, as the case may be) particularly where Harry is concerned! I think you're right about Snape's reaction to a punishment by Minerva - I think that's one reason why he does cover for Harry, so HE doesn't have to see the child in tears (deserved or not). In "Encounter with a Squid", I think this is brought out even more. Thanks again for the review and I'm glad you're enjoying it!
1. “You are just adorable when you want to be – and a total brat when you don’t.” --> this is really applicable to all small children, as I've found during my creche duty XD 2. 'he lived in a magic castle where discovering secrets could be incompatible with longevity.' --> the dry humour of this is brilliant. And it is tragic how many awesome adventures are often curtailed by fearful guardians, concerned over possible loss of life or limb. Sadly, they're often right - I was once playing doctor, and was using the swing set in a manner not proscribed in the instruction manual in order to swing to a cousin's rescue, and wound up breaking my arm. Ooops. I can't wait to see what happens next to Harry - and how Severus reacts to being in the chamber of his revered house founder. Author's Response: LOL! Thank you - I'm honored! Some of your favorite lines? Wow!! :) And yes, I think you're absolutely right. It's like kids have a switch they can flip to go from "cute" to "impossible" at the drop of a hat. And of course that is the intense frustration of childhood - all those adults who tell you not to do stuff usually have a valid point. Curses!!! ;) Thanks so much for the review - I'll be updating very soon.
I love this series, and Harry sounds like a real little mischevious monkey! A cute monkey though! Author's Response: I think that's a great description of this Harry! :)
Author's Response: Thank you! I'll be posting very soon. :)
Author's Response: I know: he is such a conniving little brat, but totally adorable with it! Thanks for the review. :)
Author's Response: Thank you!! :)
I'm glad Harry now knows how dangerous his actions were.... even though it was funny when Hagrid plowed into Sirius, hehe. I had to laugh when Harry was so worried about McGonagall punishing him that he told Severus he planned on hiding the snake in his bed! This story was fun to read. Harry is so manipulative, I shudder to think of him teaming up with the twins! (P.S. My review didn’t go through the 1st time, sorry if you receive a repeat!) Author's Response: You're right - poor Sev really doesn't have a clue! And yes, it just goes to show how clever that naughty Harry is - he'll say almost anything to make sure that it's Snape who "punishes" him, rather than Nana who might actually assign something he DOESN'T like as punishment. :) (The big meanie!) And oh gosh, you're so right - Harry plus the Weasley twins? RUN!!!! :)
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm really glad you're enjoying this naughty and clever (and utterly adorable) Harry. :) He is, I must admit, a huge favorite of mine as well. And yes, the fact that Sev has been so completely hoodwinked just makes it funnier. :) (Especially since Nana Minerva hasn't been!!!!)
Author's Response: LOL! You won't have to wait long. I'll be updating very soon! |
