So Harry had an encounter with a snake and his ability to speak to snakes has become known. I wonder what Albus will say. Sounds like it was a long day for Severus.
Author's Response: Indeed it has. Albus probably has a lot to say about it. Not sure Harry is going to hear about it any time soon though. Heck, would the old man even tell Lily and Sev his concerns?

Author's Response: Thanks. I'm not sure my parents would have said the same thing. I know my in many schools now it doesn't matter if you were just defending yourself, if you throw a punch you're in just as much trouble as the person who started it.
I'm glad Harry was able to take acre of the bully, even if the episode scared him. Fortunately, Severus and Sirius came to the rescue. Poor Chaucer. Chucked out of the way in the beginning of the chapter and sat on by Sirius at the end. At least he got some time with Lily.
Author's Response: Yeah, accidental magic can be a lifesaver that way. Poor Chaucer indeed. Your right, at least he gets some love from Lily.
I'm quite enjoying this story. The first day of school was sweet. I love that Harry wanted Severus to go with him.

Harry got a lot of support for his first day of school. At least he didn't have any trouble fitting in. And since it was a Muggle school, he didn't have to worry about the Boy-Who-Lived furor. I wonder if that was also a reason for Severus and Lily deciding to send him to a Muggle elementary school?
Author's Response: Harry got a lot more support than I did on my first day. Only my mom took me and my sister. Harry just being a normal kid at a Muggle school a big factor in why they sent him there.
That went better than I expected, especially after Petunia's crack about "that boy from Spinner's End." Lily must have really wanted to make up with Petunia to not fire back after that one. At least Lily had the satisfaction of listening to Petunia admit that Snape was a better father than she expected. I had to laugh at Vernon and Arthur discussing drills. What a quandary for Vernon.
Author's Response: Lily really did want to make up with Petunia. (In the books, I think Lily would have tried to make up with Petunia the rest of her life.) Her she can address the problem face to face. No, it will never be prefect, but at least they're talking again. Lily would miss her sister, even if she is occationally unpleasent. Glad you liked the bit with Vernon and Arthur. It was one of my favorite little inserts.
