Ah, this was surprisingly scary! I suppose it is the fear of boredom. I was so glad Shadow found the pebble! Nice of you.
So, is there a guess what is bitting his leg? First a kitten came to my mind, but it doesn't make sense. Then a fish, because it would be so wonderfully absurd. Then a serpent, as it would kind of make sense, Shadow is a parselmouth, isn't he. Then I wondered if it could be a rat - Petigrew, but I guess it is not probable either. Hm... I guess I will just hope your update comes soon :) Mila

Author's Response: Being trapped completely on my own is something I would hate as well - rest assured, he will fine that there is more than the pebble soon. Hmm, I love your guesses - especially the fish - I will tell you that one of your guesses came quite close... Yes, Shadow is a Parselmouth, but the critter is warm and hairy, rather than scaly... Thanks for reviewing!

Oh I wonder what it is? Now you've got me wondering.

I like this perspective of Shadow and the Mirrorverse reminds me of a Star Trek episode where Kirk and Spock had to deal with their doubles who were opposites in character and rather evil.

I'm glad Shadow's trying to become his own person. Does he love Severus as his dad? Comsidering he probably has memories of him that Harry doesn't?

Will we get to see the talk between Harry and Severus next chapter? Looking forward to it!

Author's Response: *grins* The animal will probably be the last thing you'd think of... Lily actually tried to keep Severus as far away from her child as possible on the off chance that he guessed the truth, so Shadow doesn't have any memories of him. However, he has seen the man interact with Harry and would probably have been quite jealous even though he didn't show it. The talk won't happen next chapter, but there will the build up to it instead! Thanks for reviewing!

While I'm glad to see harry and his friends back together again, Severus was right, he should have asked before he took the book. I think there's going to be a major battle between them omce Harry gets to school. I've known more than a few Defense Intell and CIA people and one and all of them detest thieves and liars, especially in their families, because so much of their lives center around aliases and denying who they truly are as their job, they need to be able trust those closest to them. It's like a safety net.

One of them, a friend of my sister's came back from an undercover op in Iraq and found his wife had had an affair while he was away. He divorced her immediately, he said it didn't matter if she was sorry, she had broken his trust and he couldn't have that, his life was unstable as it was, and he needed a home to come back to that wasn't a lie. Sad, isn't it?

So I can relate to Severus here and his anger at what Harry did by taking the book.

Author's Response: Harry should definitely learn to be more careful... especially where Sev is concerned! I'm glad you agree with my interpretation of the situation - concealing something from a person who once had to do that themselves on a regular basis is not a way to get into their good books. Yes, that is sad, and I am sorry to hear about your sister's friend - I hope he'll be OK.

Aw, I want to cry. Poor poor Shadow!

I can't wait for your next update. You have such vivid descriptions. I really love your writing!

Please update soon, the suspense is killing me! I want to know what Snape is going to do to Harry about stealing the book, and I want to know what that animal or otherwise is where Shadow is.

    Author's Response:

Don't worry; from now on (when I write his chapters) he won't have much time to be sad - his adventures are just beginning! The little critter gnawing on Shadow's shoes is a creature of my own invention - I hope you'll like him when I get round to writing that next bit. It's really weird how fully formed people (or animals) can just pop into your head when you're writing!

Thanks - I'm really happy that you're enjoying this so much; you saying so gives me confidence to write more :) The next chapter is practically done (it's Harry/Snape again!) - just needs a lot of tweaking before it can be considered acceptable!

Good chapter! I wonder what type of power Shadow will have when he uses it outside of his body. The burning memories things is kind of odd--I wonder how he discovered he could do it.

The pebble has given me hope and I'm glad Shadow hasn't fallen into doubt yet. I wonder how long it might be before he starts to think that Harry might not save him (though it wouldn't be true, but I imagine the thoughts will enter his head at some point because of his lack of company or anything to amuse him).

What sort of creature are we dealing with here? Please update soon so we can find out! I also need to know what's going to happen with Snape and the book! Which part are you going to write on next?

    -P.G.

    Author's Response:

Thank you - Shadow's magic will be good to write about when I can finally get him use it properly :) The burning of memories was probably something Shadow discovered while wandering about in the wilderness - I'll probably go more into it when he meets... um, you'll see. The creature in question is an animal of my own creation - and I'll say in advance that it's a little weird, but that I love it to bits.

I'll be updating the Harry/Snape part next - more setting up of the plot, I'm afraid, but after that the story can really start - hopefully, it'll be enjoyable despite that! The Shadow bits are going to be coming less frequently than Harry/Snape, but there's no way I'd abandon him for too long ;)

I thought that I had reviewed, but then I realised that I had started to write it, went to submit it, and I lost it because I hadn't signed in, and I was doing it on my mobile phone.

I am SO SO SO pleased that you are writing a sequel to your fantastic story!

Oh poor Harry, when Seveurs gets a hold of him. I hope Sev doesn't hit Harry again! :o

I don't think that their relationship could withstand that again. I hope that Sev finds another way. Harry was very naughty to do that though, he does deserve to be punished.

Great chapter. I just loved the way that Harry fooled his friends. I forget, but does Harry really look a lot like Sev now?

    Author's Response:

Ah, that's so annoying when that happens - but I am glad you reviewed again anyway! :) Don't worry about Harry - Severus won't try to spank him again - however, I don't think he'll enjoy his punishment one bit!

Harry looks like quite a good mix between both Severus and Lily - the characteristics of both his parents are there, but the resemblance is less strong and probably wouldn't be spotted right away. I'm glad you enjoyed - more will be out as soon as I can get my act together once more :)

What? Why does Snape think he's stoled the book? I'm pretty sure Harry has every intention of bringing it back, though I suppose Snape has a right to be worried since it's a family heirloom and all. Harry probably thought it was the only way to prove what he was saying is true though to his friends. Boy are they in for a surprise, lol...

I'm glad your back and writing! You know I love this fic and am very excited to see where it's headed. I'm a bit curious as to why Harry thought his strand of power was less strong than previously. Is it because part of his power was coming from Shadow?

    -P.G.

Author's Response: I always got the impression that Snape would be extremely possessive about his belongings (and the things he considers his belonings) hence the angry reaction. Heh - I'm going to enjoy writing that particular confrontation! Speaking of confrontations - I've just finished writing Ron's reaction to the news(!) I found it very amusing and I'm hoping you will too :) However, next chapt will concern Shadow and what's happening with him (and what's happened to Harry's power) I'm really happy you've enjoyed this so far, and I hope you continue to do so! :)

haha, merlot is definately the way to calm one's thoughts... I'm sooo glad that you are continuing this, btw. Anyway... Earlier, you say Hermione pulled away from Harry, looking scolded. I think you mean scalded.

Author's Response: Thanks for pointing that out! That was one of the last changes I made to the chapter, so I'm not surprised it slipped through, I'll sort it out soon. Anyway, glad you're enjoying! And I hope you continue to do so in the next chapter when I get it up!
