Reviews For Broken Wings

Author's Response: Aren't they just sweet together?
Author's Response: Lol, that would really be funny! And that's actually a good idea, now who will misbehave next that we could use it on, hmm?
Anyway, to this chapter. I liked that Severus could talk to his bird, but I found it a little disconcerting that Harry hawks use of language is so human. But I suppose that is because he is an animagus. He seems to have the instincts of a hawk, but even with his memory loss, he seems to have a human's perceptions. I just never thought that animals of any species other than humans and perhaps dolphins could communicate vocally with each other. It is more body language. So HArry hawks language skills are a little disconcerting. Lesley Author's Response: I always try and reply to all my reviewers, i figure it's only polite since they took the time to leave a review and I also like discussing topics with reviewers since I don't do chat rooms. That could be why the Slytherins didn't stand up and declare themselves, but I was waiting for some of them to just say "Down with Voldy" and go and stand up for themselves. I was disappointed when that didn't happen. Part of the reason Harry sounds so human is because he's an Animagus, but also it's how the potion "translates" the hawk language for Severus to comprehend. For instance, i would assume a bird has more vocal cues and such than a dog or a cat, who communicate more with body language, but a bird also uses posture for defense and to indicate fear and aggression and affection, and all of that is translated into human speech by magic. But even in hawk form, Harry's personality comes out, which would fit with how an Animagus keeps his own mind while in animal form, along with the animal instincts. Plus, it's fun to have Severus and Harry banter with each other, especially since Severus doesn't know who he's really talking to. It increases the bond between them, which will be important later on.
-P.G. Author's Response: Severus does know Muggle expressions, he just doesn't use them too often in his professor persona. I loved the part with his hair too!
Author's Response: I wanted to do something different and I figured if they could speak to each other before Harry changed back, it would make their relationship so much more fulfilling. And I love playing with the Slytherins, they're fun!
Author's Response: Ohh, now that would really drive Sev over the edge! But it IS really funny! You'll see what he calls Harry!hawk next chapter!
Author's Response: Thanks, I think it's fun to write about a Harry who doesn't know he's Harry too! Not to mention Severus, LOL!
Excellent writing! Bravo! Dancingkatz Author's Response: Thanks, I should have the next one up as soon as I'm better. Hope you don't mind waiting.
Author's Response: Yup, that's about right. And building a wall around it too. But that won't last long once he knows the truth. |
