Author's Response: Yes that's absolutely right!
Author's Response: Haha! Thanks, I thought they were pretty funny myself. Glad we share the same sense of humor.
Author's Response: Thanks, I always think they are great together! Hope you enjoy the rest!
Author's Response: Their relationship will continue to improve as master and familiar and once they find out Freedom is Harry . . .well it's going to be a shock! I thought Freedom was a very fitting name for the beautiful red-tailed hawk, since all hawks should be free and by naming the hawk that, Severus has managed to set harry's spirit free.
These are just my ruminations on the subject. Please do not take them as criticisms. Your story is wonderful and you of course can do with it as you will. We all do make up our own plot lines after all. Voldemort was suitably evil and cruel and I loved the touch of him having to imbibe Severus's despair, just like a dementor. I love how close Freedom is getting to Sev and vice versa. I also love how you have given Severus healing skills. MY own story (A Shocking Discovery) actually has Severus being a fully trained healer, but this is kept mostly secret from the wider wizarding world. Cannot wait for Harry (Freedom) to get his memory back fully and for Severus to realise who his Familiar is. Hope you don't mind the long, long rambling reviews. Lesley~ Author's Response: That's the funny thing about the mind, with amnesia or without it, sometimes the mind tends to block out horrible things that happen to you. I am sort of following canon in my portrayal of Dumbledore--he is a manipulator, but with good intentions, and he also has several blind spots concerning the Marauders. He never really curbed their pranks, at least to my understanding, perhaps because he thought they were harmless, but also because he was a prankster himself in his youth. Sirius was the mastermind behind that so-called prank, but I think James probably went along with it, as a kind of let's scare Snape witless thing, until he realized it would mean Snape's death and then he acted to save him. Funny how Peter was never mentioned, maybe he was hiding somewhere nearby in rat shape? In any case, I don;t think those two were punished beyond a few detentions and a lecture, since Severus never felt vindicated. In canon, he says "your father and his friends played a highly amusing joke on me and nearly got me killed" if he's still angry and bitter about it all those years later, that suggests to me that they were never punished for it. Of course, Dumbledore couldn't expel them, but whatever he did do to them didn't leave much of an impression, because Sirius doesn;t seem to feel any kind of regret or remorse over almost killing Snape. He kind of seems to think that Snape deserved it, at least that is my interpretation of events. DD threatens to expel Severus because it is the only way he can assure himself that Sev keeps his mouth shut, without binding him magically. It was a bluff, he never would have followed through, but Severus didn't know that. ironically, in attempting to save Remus, Albus causes the potential suicide Severus to think that no one cares and leads him inadvertantly to nearly take his own life. Of course DD never knows that, otherwise he would feel terrible and try to make amends. But Severus never told him, and only Hagrid knows the truth. It just makes sense for me to make Severus a healer and a Potions Master. In my other series, Never Again, Severus is a Master Healer, a doctor and Potions Master. It's a very AU universe where Voldemort is killed suring the first war by James, Sirius, and Remus, though james dies trying to kill him. Severus is also friends with Remus, Sirius, and James, they were never enemies. Lily eventually marries Sev and he adopts Harry. This series focus mainly on family relationships, raising a mischievius magical toddler, and Snape's reconciliation with his abusive former alcoholic father Tobias. Eventually Freedom will regain his memories. No, i don't mind long reviews. I just write long replys. LOL!
-P.G. P.S. Just a small concern really, but you might want to consider rephrasing the following sentence: "He hadn't laughed that way since Lily had died." While I know what you intended, it sounds a bit like Sev laughed when Lily died, instead of before she died, while they were friends. Just a thought :). Author's Response: You're right, but that's how it goes sometimes. Harry has always placed the well being of others before himself and so is a little slow to notice all the memories he's been getting back. That will continue to happen over the course of the story, until he finally remembers everything. It's a gradual process. Poor Severus, Hagrid and Poppy should be able to help him. Thanks for noticing that, I have now fixed it, I knew there was something I missed. XD
Author's Response: I know, poor Sev! But maybe he'll remember at least part of what Harry said to him when he's better. He definitely needs help and Twixie is just the elf to bring it. I try to update so long as I've a chapter written, which is pretty much one a day if I'm home.
::stares tiredly at blurry words of chapter:: I'm not crying. But then again it could be because I'm dead tired and emotionally exhausted... Severus had better live, Snapegirl, or I'll personally kill Lord Voldemort and laugh while I'm doing it. Update soon, dear. Author's Response: Go right ahead, my dear! I'm sure Harry will be glad it's you instead of him. And you ought to know I'd never kill off my Sev!
I hope that Severus is going to be alright. I'm sure Hagrid with all his knowledge about every kind of creature can cure Sev. Maybe Harry too somehow. Always the cliffies. Sniff sniff. Author's Response: I know I'm so mean to poor Sevvy. And mean to you too, with my darn cliffies, LOL! Both familiar and mnetor will work together to save Sev, don't worry. |
