Reviews For Broken Wings
Author's Response: Yes, I agree. Everytime I was sick my cat always made me feel better. That may yet happen. Yes, it will, but it has to happen. No, neither do I. She's a health care professional and she would know how to deal with crotchety patients and I don't think she would be ignorant of what Severus was doing or how he got the scars and injuries. She would have to know because nobody just shows up suffering from a Cruciatus Curse multiple times for NO REASON. Plus Severus might be willing to trust her over everyone else, except maybe Hagrid, because of her confidentiality oath.
Author's Response: They really are more alike than not, aren;t they? Freedom can really be a smartass, but you've gotta love him! And yes, it was a good role reversal.
Author's Response: Yes, he is. I think he's one of those natural caregivers. As is Poppy, who is quite aware of what's going on in the school, even though she spends most of her time in the infirmary.
Concerning some earlier musings of Sev's about DD'd past...how would he know anything about DD's earlier life. If you have made it the same as canon, no-one knows about DD's past, except for perhaps Elphias Doge, and he only knows what DD allowed him to know. Once again I digress. I love Freedom's worry for Sev and Hagrid's caring also. It seems a little bit strange to me that there does not appear to be more worry about the missing Gryffindor. Sev has not taken an active part in any search since the first night. And he just says that HArry is off sulking somewhere and everyone believes him. I wonder, just as a matter of protocol whether the Dursleys have been notified that their nephew is missing. After all, everyone seems to think Harry leads a normal, happy existence with them. Severus certainly does. Onwards. Lesley~ Author's Response: Yes, Minerva and the rest of them do admire Albus and so does Hagrid. Poppy has a hard time reconciling the fact that Severus is continually hurt in Albus's service, and she fears that however wellmeaning, the Headmaster is using Severus for his own ends, using the guilt he feels over Lily's death to keep him playing spy. She knows, rationally, that Severus has agreed but it still pains her to see him hurt so badly. She would never hurt Albus, Healer's oath and her own conscience would prevent her. Dumbledore's early life as the son of wealthy purebloods and as a popular and brilliant child at school is known to the public in my universe and Severus believes that such an upbringing doesn't give Dumbledore the necessary empathy to understand one like himself, who had an awful childhood and once contemplated ending his own life. DD never saw the signs Severus was giving off, granted they weren't many, but DD didn;t see them, and in that way he failed Severus, because Sev believes he SHOULD have seen them. A lot of the search for Harry with the other teachers takes place behind the scenes. After Snape's initial search, where he tells Albus that Harry is hiding, he also went out a few other times, but again finds nothing. They do know, because of Severus's torture, that the DE don;t have Harry, and since none of their locator spells have turned up anything, they have to assume that Harry is somewhere on the grounds, since his broom is still in his dorm. Dumbledore will announce that they need to keep searching and are concerned over Harry;s disappearance at a staff dinner coming up. Also, DD wouldn't want it to be known that he has "lost" Harry Potter and so hasn't informed the Dursleys. Not that they would care. At the end of the first book, when Harry is recovering in the Hospital Wing, only DD comes to visit him besides his friends, and maybe DD never told the Dursleys about that time either. Of course he should notify them, it would be SOP in any regular school, but then when has Hogwarts ever been normal?
Author's Response: Thanks! It took me awhile to come up with that, I wanted something special, not the usual potion ingredient or Lily's name or whatever, since this was the password to his private rooms and we all know what Snape is like about his privacy, LOL!
Author's Response: Good question and I guess it's because most people don't look at animals a source of healing for people. It's a shame, because I've worked with therapy dogs and there's nothing quite like petting a dog or holding a purring cat to make you feel better. I loved it when my cat curled up on my feet when I was sick and kept them warm, or when my dog used to come and sit next to me and put his head in my lap. But Poppy will remember this and fetch Hedwig should Harry get injured or sick again. Thanks for reading.
As for the hawk, I like how Harry tried to protect Severus from Poppy. It was nice to see such loyalty from the familiar. I'm excited that he'll get to fly soon too, though I'm fairly certain he'll come back after his demonstration in this chapter. -P.G. Author's Response: I've always thought so too, he doesn't really seem to judge people and the only person he really dislikes (and who wouldn't?) is Voldemort. hawks are very loyal to their falconers or their wizards, in this case. Freedom's flight has been posted.
Author's Response: Thanks! Hope you like what's next!
A-hem. ::coughs to clear throat:: Where was I...? Oh, yeah--next review. ::grumbles:: Ya got me too excited there! Do you know, I've never reviewed so many chapters of a single story before? I like Poppy! I can just imagine how she must have let Dumbledore have it when she informed him of Snape's condition. Heh--I'd bet Fawkes bailed on him and went to hide out with the owls! The gargoyles guarding his office probably scramming along with the bird. ::snicker:: I liked the affirmation of Snape's bonds with Hagrid, Poppy, and Trixie--and Poppy's assessment of Dumbledore. I get the feeling that Snape's next summons might be a trigger for Harry to get his memories or/and human form back. ::winces:: That, or if he's flying again, he manages to go *with* Snape. ::double wince:: Author's Response: Hmm . . .I take you want a sequel? *burst out laughing* Really? Wow! I'm honored. *blushes* Uh, yeah, Fawkes knows better than to stay under fire, LOL! And she was plenty angry, so I think she roasted Dumbledore, so to speak. Good for her, since evry so often he eneds the reminder. It could be . . .and that would be really bad for both of them. So glad you're enjoying this! Freedom is flying now, check it out!
Poor Sev, he really got banged up this time. Good thing he has some friends to help him, otherwise who knows what might have happened? I look forward to when Freedom flies, both he and Sev will be so happy. I'm sure he'd want to return to the potions master, but I do wonder when Harry will recall whom he is? Author's Response: He could have died or something. Yes, they bioth need the release of flying. Harry will start to regain more and more of his memories after the flight, as you'll see. |
