Reviews For Broken Wings
The beginning was scary though, I could practically FEEl his rage. I'd have been running, all right. As for a punishment, I've been reading a story on colonial Virginia and back then they punished thieves by branding them with a T on their thumb or cheek for a first offense, second, they hung them, anyway, what about casting a spell on the boys that makes a T appear on their forehead, in brilliant glowing orange or something and making them walk about like that for a week? It'd be humiliating, because then everyone would know just what they did to get dtention and whatever else Severus dishes out, since that's not enough. Personally, i think Malfoy would absolutely hate being humiliated, he's not used to it. Update again soon! Author's Response: Aww, I'm so sorry! I hate it when animals die, my own or someone else's. My condolences. If it makes you feel better read "The Rainbow Bridge" it's an anonymous poem and it's something my vet gave me after my cat died and it really helped me through grieving for her. You can find it on the web. So would I, believe me. Running to hide under the bed! That's a very unique punishment, thanks for telling me! I don't know if Sev wants it publically known that they stole from him, however, but humilation would serve Draco right.
Now, for proper punishment. . . hmm, Can't be something too public--Snape wouldn't do that to his reputation. What could he do? What about having the boys learn something about proper bird care by completely cleaning out the owlry--without magic and maybe with at toothbrush?--for hurting our beloved hawk. For the Intrusion and theft from Sev's private stores--the three are the permanent potion testers in class for the rest of the term--especailly Longbottom's potions? Finally for the pivacy issue, Require the boys to take a truth serium (veriasirium or not) in the Slytherin common room for a specified lentgh of time and anyone can ask questions? Too Harsh? Or, what about assigning them to be labor for Hagrid for the rest of the year? More soon please! Author's Response: They did, how did you guess? Probably because that's what you or I would be doing if faced with the wrath of a certain Potions Master, right? That's right, Snape wouldn't want to advertise that three members of his own House just ripped him off, forgot about that. I like the Owlery thing, some others have suggested that too, and the potion testers sound good, except I'm wondering if Severus could get in trouble for doing it? And the truth serum sounds good in theory, but I think the Ministry would have poor Sev's hide for giving such things to students, I remember reading that giving Veritaserum to minors was forbidden legally, though Umbridge breaks that rule once she's in charge of the school. Still, Albus is still in charge right now and he wouldn't like it. But it's still a good idea, maybe I could do it in a slightly different way, like with a Babbling Beverage? And working for Hagrid is good too.
Author's Response: Aww, that's too bad, though I've had a few die on me too and was totally wrecked afterward. Yes, that's a good idea, Draco especially needs to learn to get his hands dirty.
Author's Response: Good idea! Thanks!
Author's Response: Good idea and thanks. I like Crabbe being in charge for once, maybe he can teach Malfoy how to share, LOL! I wanted make him a real character for a change and not just Draco's goon.
Draco...hmmm I will say that he shouldn't get away with blaming Crabbe and Crabbe should get a lesser sentence for coming clean. But that's just me. I thought about making the boys stand by while everyone in their house go through their things so they'll experience the same violation, but that would never be allowed. Maybe, in addition to lines, essays, and cleaning, and suspension from quiddich & Hogsmeade, they should have a prefect escort them everywhere for the next several weeks, since they can't be trusted on their own. Author's Response: I know, if I wrote 10,000 words it still wouldn't be long enough, right? But that's a compliment, so thank you. No, and he won't especially since Severus already has the whole story from Crabbe, so Draco can't try and weasel out of it by saying it all the other two's fault. Yes, Crabbe should get a reduced sentence, for telling the truth and helping the hawk. I like your first punishment, but that wouldn't be good school policy. The prefect idea is good as are some of the other ideas you mention. I may have to use several ideas, since there are a lot of good ones.
You have created a wonderful story here, and I can't wait to read more of it. ;-} I love how Hagrid watches out for Severus and all. Most people write him as really really dim, but you have expanded his character incredibly. I love that he can see the "injured" students and tries so hard to help them. I also love how you have charectorized Severus. He isn't just "the greasy bat of the dunguns", he has other faces than just that one. And I love that you are writing like you are. Don't Stop. As for Malfoy & Co.'s punishment, maybe something that will make a lasting impression. 10,000 lines each, detention every night for the next year, and perhaps expulsion from the quiditich team. After all, they not only broke into their professor (and Head of House)'s office and stole ingredients and a cauldron, but they also nearly killed said Head's new familiar. Needless to say revenge will be sweet for Severus. ;-} All in all, the whole story is absolutely brilliant! ;-} Leilia Author's Response: Thanks!! I wanted to have Hagrid in a different light, I always thought there was more to him than the bumbling gamekeeper, know what I mean? After all, he was once a wizard too. I figured him being a kind of mentor to the hurt and outcast students made sense, he's the kind of perosn to see good in monsters and try and help them, so it would be easy for him to see a student in emotional pain and help them too. And God knew Severus needed him and so does Harry. I love showing the secret side of Snape, it's like opening a fortune cookie, you neve rknow what kind of emotion he'll reveal next. True, very true, and I'll consider carefully what kind of punishments they ought to get. Severus would agree with you!
Send Draco and his goons HERE and I will take care of the punishments. Author's Response: Uh, yeah, unless you wear contacts and can always say you got something in them and it's making you cry. Okay, I'm getting a Portkey ready now . . .give to 'em good! Send a report back when you're finished so i can see what you did, okay?
You are seriously lucky that I like you. Don't expel the boys; I think that would be too harsh. But they definitely need to be taught a lesson about entering someone's private room and lacking the respect for that privacy. I can relate to Severus; I'm an extremely private person and I hate people touching my stuff without my express permission. Update soon darling. Your stories are the light in my dark little world. Love always, Jewels. Author's Response: Oh really? *smirks*
No, I wouldn't expel them, we need them to cause more trouble for Harry and friends. Although Crabbe might not be as bad as he's made out in canon in this story. But I do have a few other things in mind that they won't like at all. So can I, I'm a fanatic about anyone rummaging thru my stuff. Thanks, Julie! ;)
And about punishment; what about: For the stolen ingredients - they must go to the Forbiden forest and find them(they must learn that find some ingredients is very difficult) and for the hurt of the hawk - they can for example help Hagrid with his animals and beasts(another lesson for them). I think that the slitherins will hate both these punishments...=o) Sorry for mistakes, I am not native speaker of English. Bye Author's Response: No problem! Thanks for the ideas, they're really interesting, and you're right, the Slyhts would hate those punishments. Draco I think hates the Forbidden Forest since his detention in it first year and he also isn't too fond of Hagrid considering what happened to him in third year with Buckbeak. |
