Reviews For Broken Wings
Author's Response: Thanks, i wanted to try something different and I really like Hagrid, so I figured this was the story to do that. And Severus needs a mentor besides the old man.
I did enjoy the talk with Hagrid (he‘s an awesome character) and can see why you’d create those slight changes in background/relationship between he and Severus. It sure makes for an interesting and loyal friendship :) And yes, lacking the pensive incident does make things more likely for the potions professor to reconsider Harry. BTW, I for one am glad you’re posting fast Snapegirl, and appreciate the messages alerting me of your updates as always :) Author's Response: I know, Malfoy is a little spoiled wretch and deserves every minute of misery Snape will dish out to him. You'll see more of Hagrid and Sev later on and I agree, the pensive really wrecked any chance Severus had of wanting to see Harry as more than James's son, considering how he is about his privacy and all. I've just posted another chapter too, and it has a lot more of Harry and Sev in it!
Author's Response: *waves a Slytherin banner* You'll see! I've just posted the next part.
The "humorous" you have there means "funny". Here you're discussing the bone, which is spelled HUMERUS. Wonderful beginning--I'm really looking forward to the upcoming chapters! Author's Response: Thanks, i try and proof as best as I can, but sometimes I miss stuff. Though i think that was the word my spell check and I were having an argument about, I kept spelling it right and it kept "correcting" it. Ahh . . .stupid computer programs! Anyway, I'm glad you're liking this!
Everytime I turn around you've posted another chapter! LOL! Ooh, I hope Snape doesn't go off the deep end when he realises that the hawk is really Harry! Well, maybe he'll go softer on him when he begins to realise that Hagrid is right about Harry's home life! Wrath of Snape...Oh God help them! Author's Response: Yes, for about three hours. Actually I've been having insomnia lately and that's why I've been writing, because after i do that I'm drained and can usually fall asleep. By the time Harry regains his memories and reveals the fact that he is Animagus to Severus, the Potions Master will have gone through some changes in his opinion, but it will be a shock and at first Snape is going to freak. God help them, indeed! And guess what . . .here's another chapter!
Author's Response: Ha! The unmentionables! Love it! And you'll be seeing it soon.
Author's Response: I love red-tailed hawks, i wish I could own one, but I don't have the money, time, or the license. Oh well, that's why writing's so cool, because then I can have whatever I want. I remember reading Animorphs way back when, I think I still have the books somewhere. Get ready for some more Severus and Harry interaction in the next chapter, which I've just posted.
I love your hagrid, he's so sweet and yet he knows how to make Snape feel guilty without really saying so and how to get Snape to look at his actions in a different light. The comment about Snape acting like Sirius was brilliant! I also liked how you showed Hagrid as being hurt too in the past, that's glossed over in canon, but it must've hurt terribly. Now, let's see Snape give Draco a good thrashing, or the equivalent of! And save Harry too! Author's Response: Thanks and yes, Hagrid does understand Severus very well. I was wondering if anyone would catch that comment, I thought it was sort of funny. hagrid being hurt by being expelled and all was never really addressed and I felt ti should have been. Okay, one equivalent of a thrashing coming up!
I definitely like your Hagrid in this - he's much more believable than most and the 'mentoring' relationship he has with Severus is sweet. This chapter was fun to read and I'm looking forward to more! Author's Response: Coconuts? Like in Monty Python and the Holy Grail? LOL! I loved writing Hagrid that way, and I think Severus needs someone like him to remind him when he lets his temper get the better of him that he needs to calm down and take a look at the situation rationally. I'd say Hagrid understands Sev better than most because they have similar pasts--they've been down on the ground, spit at and mocked for their heritage and pawns and mistrusted--I think that's key when developing trust, that you cna relate to the other's fears and understand what motivates them. Dumbledore, brilliant wizard though he is, just doesn't get it, since he was never micked or derided as a child or an adult, he was always presented as a great and wonderful hero, and I think that's why sometimes Severus resents him for trying to tell him how to feel towards Harry. Severus must be saying--what the hell do you know about resentment or hating somebody's guts because they made your life hell for years and no one did anything about it--especially you? And then you tell me to just forget it? Right, old man. Anyway, the next one's up and you can get to see a bit more Harry/Sev bonding and more of Sev's past. Bring a tissue!
Author's Response: You're welcome. I know Hagrid seems odd because he's not usually cast as a mentor to a teacher, but given the past I created for the two of them, i think it works well. I like giving Hagrid something more to do than just take care of animals and hunt all the time, he'll help Severus a lot with Harry!hawk in future chapters. And the next one's up now! |
