Very bittersweet fic! I was surprised at the ending, I had thought it would end differently after they had merged their memories and Severus had comforted Harry. I'm a sucker for happy endings. But it was very good story and I'm glad that Harry gave Severus a decent burial, he deserved it.

    Author's Response:

Yeah, I'm  a sucker for a happy ending, and I did make this as happy as I could.  I just wrote what came to me.  Thanks for the kind words.

Clever idea! I really liked all the details you put in - the way it took a long time to pan out at the beginning, and the movement of the characters. Why did he use Harry's owl though? I liked the idea that Harry had learnt his occlumency too. Hermione was well played and Umbridge was a nice touch. Well done!

    Author's Response:

He used Harry's owl because she was familiar with the area, and known to be about.  (And because that was one of the bits of the challenge, to be honest.)

    Thank for the kind words.

Wow. That was incredible!!! The begining was a little rough, but once it got into the story, the descriptions were amazing. Very well done idea, and plot.

My favorite part was about the memories combining, one of Snape's and one of Harry's, and one of snape's.... the description of that was wonderful.

If you ever want to go back and rework the beginning, the "sore" head Harry had was the most distracting. I'm not sure that people usually have sore heads, and the word "sore" was repeated a little too often, especially since it was unusual as a description.

Well very well done, especially for your first story here! Thanks so much for participating and sharing your story with us!

    Author's Response:

    Thanks for the review.

Beautiful...beautifully written, beautifully in character, beautifully canon...just beautiful.

    Author's Response:

Thanks so much.  I'm glad you enjoyed it.  This was my first time ever writing from Harry's POV.

Wow Tambra! You really know how to start a fest! That was really powerful. It really worked well with canon. Snape was great and so were the trio. I loved how at the end Harry found the letter and it was worn from being read so much and that Harry, himself, declined to read it. I loved it all!

    Author's Response:

Thanks for the kind words.  This is my first ever time writing from Harry's POV.  I liked the way the trio interacted in this story.  Who knows, I might even write some more Harry/Severus fics.

     Thanks again.

Well, you already know how much I love this, but I just had to read it again. It was so, so good. And poweful. You write emotions really well. It's so sad, but somehow, I just love that it's all canon. So brilliantly poignant. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

    Author's Response:

Thanks for the kind words, and thanks for letting me participate in this fest.  I really liked how it turned out.  I'm looking forward to reading the other authors works.

Wow, that's not nice, but wow! I love how Harry goes off on completely the wrong track, and how Snape still has to be a spy. I love, love how Snape takes away the memory. Not able to deal with the shared knowledge?

    Author's Response:

Yes, Severus knows that Harry would give him away.  Harry is not a person with a great deal of subterfuge where Snape is concerned.  I hated having to follow cannon.  I always want Snape to live and to come to an understanding with Harry, but that is where the muse took me.

    Thanks for the review.

Goodness! Normally I don't really like stories that adhere to canon, but yours is brilliant. The ending was so sad, but I could so easily imagine this happening instead of canon (in fact I wish it had!) - especially the part where Snape Obliviates Harry, giving up his own chance at a comrade in order to keep his cover. My favourite bit was when their memories merged - that was a particularly powerful bit of writing. Great job!

    Author's Response:

Thanks for the kind words. This was my first story from Harry's POV.  I really enjoyed writing him.

I tried hard to make the memories merging a fluid peice. These two men had so much in common.  I'm glad it worked for you.

Oh, tambra, that was so powerful! I wish so much that things could have been different...that Severus and Harry could have had that friendship, the loving relationship that both needed so badly...but with Severus choosing to complete his duty, that was tragically beautiful, too.

I loved the ending, that at least Harry was able to remember in the end.

    Bravo!

    Author's Response:

I couldn't imagine Severus, in this story at least, choosing any differently.  His most admirable quality, at least to me, is his obligation to duty.  Thanks for the kind words.
