Reviews For Return to Prince Manor
Author's Response: Thanks so much! I have posted a new chapter of this and hope you enjoy it.
Author's Response: Yes, and now you can see what Petunia and Dudley and Sirius have been up to, since I just posted again.
I wonder what Petunia's surprise might be? Does it have something to do with Sirius? :D I have a feeling that both Severus and Sirius will try hard to get along, if only for Harry's sake. I don't know if they will succeed, though. It will be interesting to see what kind of changes have been wrought in Dudley. Being around Sirius is sure to have affected him in some ways. Author's Response: Yes, they really can. . .unless something else happens. Yes, it does. And you can see what it is right now.
Hmm... did you forget about the Time-Turners in canon? :) Author's Response: No, but I think they are something that can be grossly misused and are there fore too dangerous and should be destroyed. The timeclock has certain types of restrictions upon it, so that it almost can't be misused, a time turner could fall into the wrong hands and then the whole world could be turned into hell. Think about what would have happened if Voldemort or one his followers had gotten one--they could have gone back and killed Harry as a baby or done anything they chose to make themselves rule the world. There's no checks on who can use it except Ministry permission--what if a corrupt Ministry official gave a Tine turner to Voldy--or was tortured into giving a DE one? Then, you're basically screwed. I never liked them, because to me, it's like cheating--if you have one, what's to prevent you from going back an altering history to your liking? There's too much potential for abuse and for using it for your own personal gain. And then what? Once you use it, what can the Ministry do to you, when the past is changed and the future altered? It's too late to say, well now I'm going to arrest you. That's why the fae put specific restrictions upon their invention--they're failsafes, and the potential for misude is much less. What I said is true, when Hermione and Harry used it in third year they had to be careful to not run into themselves . . .that's paradox. Not good. Plus, who's to say that altering those events didn't create something worse. They saved their friends, but what if by doing so, they killed other people, people that they didn't know about? It's a complicated thing, and not something to just play around with. It encourages people to play God with events and I don't like that at all. I think they could have saved Buckbeak and Sirius another way, without using the Time Turner. Someone could have freed the hippogriff before the executioner came, or before the ruling came down. Then Hagrid wouldn't have been in danger of being arrested for going against the Ministry because the hoppogriff "ran away". Hide the silly creature in the Forbidden Forest somewhere--hippogriff is saved. And if Sirius had been smart and not chased after stupid Pettigrew, but gone with the kids and Remus to Dumbledore and taken Veritaserum, the whole Pettigrew plot would have been revealed without the need for another rescue. Have Severus give him the potion, so his suspicions are allayed too. No need for a Time Turner then. |
