Reviews For My Enemy's Enemy
Snape is always so very harsh with Harry. "I hate you for what you have done." It is no wonder Harry (especially given his history) is so uncertain of Snape's true feelings and intentions. Gosh this is such good angsty stuff! Thank you for writing and sharing! I Love it! I am really anxious for the next chapter - can't wait! Author's Response: Aw thank you! That really means a lot to me :) Yep you've caught onto Dumbledore all right! And yes, it hasn't exactly been easy for Harry to know where he stands, what with Snape's reluctance to open up and his own insecurities. I'm glad you're enjoying the angst though. The next chapter is now up...
Author's Response: Thanks! New chapter is now up :) Hope you like it.
Author's Response: Lol! I tried to update quickly but it didn't happen! New chapter is up now though. Hope you enjoy :)
I can't believe that Severus hit Harry and was so violent with him. Poor Harry. I do understand Seveurs' wrath though. Harry should have trusted him. Oh, I hope that the Dursleys don't hurt Harry. Or I hope that Severus comes to his senses. Or maybe Severus doesn't know about it at all. Has Dumbles kept this from Severus perhaps, so he won't interfere, despite how angry he is with Harry? Author's Response: Thanks for your review. Yeah, Severus was totally out of line, but he was reeling from the shock of Harry using an unforgivable on him AND being informed in the most harsh manner imaginable that he was expected to kill Albus (whose coming death he's still distraught over). Also if you consider, Severus only cares about 3 living people (Albus, Harry and Draco) and all at once he's forced to realise that 1 of them thinks he is a traitor and 1 thinks he will be amenable to killing him... And Severus did try to keep his temper (stopping himself from hexing Harry etc) the hitting business was his frustration, hurt and anger from everything bubbling over. OK now I'm making excuses- so I'm going to shut up. He shouldn't have done it is the simple answer! Ah, good point about whether Severus knows, Albus was certainly a bit cagey at the end, wasn't he?
Author's Response: Yep. Not much to say back to that, apart from he was definitely wrong to do that...
The ending was very angsty and I'm assuming that Severus actually does not know that Harry is going to the Dursleys. The headmaster's reply to Minerva was misleading, purposely I'm sure. That was well done by you. Critical review? Well, I found it surprising that Harry so meekly took Severus' abuse. Sure, Severus was angry, but shaking Harry and striking him across the face? I would have expected Harry to be angry about that, at least a little. And why didn't Severus and the Headmaster go a little further into Harry's dreams and realize why Harry has been so distrustful of Severus? Wouldn't Harry want the headmaster to know why he doesn't want to go to the Dursleys? You are writing this story very well, though, because I am very angry at Severus at the moment. I understand that his life is horrible (the spying, etc.) but even though he says he cares for Harry, he certainly fails to show it. And what is the use of caring for somebody if they don't feel cared for? Anyway, you can see that I am really worked up about your characters and hope you will update soon! Thanks so much for writing this. Author's Response: Thank you, it's great to know which bits people like and which bits don't work so well. Yep, Severus has messed up pretty majorally, in fact I'd go as far as to say that none of them came out of this particularly well, although at least on Harry's part it was perhaps understandable. Thanks for the bits you feel didn't sit so well with you, I'll never know if people don't say! I will bear it all in mind. FYI What I was thinking when I wrote this was that Harry was always going to be more bothered by the emotional abuse (I hate you etc) than the physical violence. (But I do get your point and think it's a valid objection) And you're right of course, the logical thing would be for them to look at all his dreams. I think I justified it in my head by saying Severus is too angry/upset to ask the right questions and Dumbledore's too intent on making use of the situation to get his own way, but actually it probably *is* a bit contrived because I wanted to get him all set to leave for the Dursleys asap. opps.
I think perhaps it might be good if Severus began talking to Harry more about what does and does not work in battle situations. Harry is going to find it hard to trust Severus if the man continues to keep things from him. He SHOULD have told Harry about legilimency and its pros and cons at the very least... |
