Reviews For Sparks Will Fly
It's so sad, though completely understandable, that Harry sees adults as untrustworthy, even if he believes that they do care for him, as in the case of Dumbledore. And what's even more tragic is that he has no reason to trust adults at this point. They have always failed him, either intentionally, or by missing the signs of abuse. Most of the adults around Harry have let him down, in big and small ways. I like your Dumbledore. Of course he should have done more to watch out for Harry, but he did not deliberately subject him to abuse. And I just love your Severus here, too. He doesn't want to change his feelings and beliefs about Harry, but he can't ignore the evidence before him and he's beginning to change in spite of himself. I hope that the two of them can help one another heal. As stated earlier, Harry needs to have an adult that is trustworthy, someone who cares for him, protects him and...dare I say it?...loves him. Severus' needs are not quite as obvious, perhaps, but he too needs someone in his life. I think Severus needs to be needed. Maybe I'm crazy, but I do think, if he could only open his heart and take a chance on caring for someone again, that he would be a wonderful care-taker. Severus needs to care for someone. He needs forgiveness, and he needs some joy in his life. I think Harry could give him all that in return. I'm so looking forward to chapter 3! Author's Response: You give such lovely reviews Kristeh. Thank you so much. It's really going to take awhile for Severus to see Harry in a different light. The proof is right in his face, but he's fighting it all the way. He's got some big surprises coming his way, and he's going to be forced to totally examine his preconceptions of Harry.
I wanted to show Dumbledore a little more caring in this story. Dumbledore has his faults, but I really don't believe in Canon that had he know the extent of Harry's neglect and abuse, that he would have just stood by and let it happen. At least I hope not! I really love writing a younger Harry too because he is that much more vulnerable and needs to be cared for. I always thought that Harry looked so vulnerable, young and innocent in the POA movie. He wanted a family so badly, and Marge treated him so horriblly. I think that that movie really hit home to me how Harry was really alone. It made me very sad. He came so close to having a home with Sirius, only for it to be pulled away from under his feet. It was really heartbreaking. It's going to take time, but I'm hoping that at least in this story I can give him all the love and caring he deserves. Of course, I terribly evil and I'll put him through the wringer first!! :)
Yeah, I think that having Harry to care for will give Severus a purpose in his life, but of course he'd never believe that at first.
Okay, I'm going to work on the two stories this weekend. Now I've just got to get myself moving.
Author's Response: Thanks so much! :)
Author's Response: Thank you so much. (Blushes again)
Author's Response: Thanks. I don't think that Snape is quite sure of WHAT he's feeling. I'll try to work on it this weekend.
Author's Response: Yeah, it's hard to strike a balance between him being abused and not getting too graphic about it. Thanks.
Author's Response: Thank you. |
