Lol - I thought for sure Harry was busted! Bet his luck won't hold out forever, though. Nice job, and looking forward to the next chapter.

    Author's Response:

Yeah, Harry was one very lucky boy. You're right though, he'd better watch it if he plans to do anymore midnight strolls!  You can't fool Snape forever.

Thanks, working on the next chapter now. Oh, and will we see an update of "Father of Mine" soon. I really love that story. I'm so anxious to see more!  So many unanswered questions!

Hmm...interesting. So Sirius left something in the Potters' house, presumably for Harry. I'm excited to see where that goes.

I really liked how you created Harry's fear of the black dog, both in his dreams and when it appears in person. Hagrid handled the situation so casually, but Harry knew it meant something more and it made it seem creepy, even though I don't think that Sirius will be an antagonist in this story.

I do have a bit of criticism for this chapter because it almost feels like you're rushing the story along. Within the last two chapters, two weeks of time have passed and Harry is only staying with Snape for three weeks. Is this story going to continue after the three weeks or will it be over then? If that was the case, then it would be fine, but I'm not really sure if you intended on this being a long or short story. Also, there was very little build up to Harry feeling comfortable spending time in Snape's presence. I'm glad that Harry has started to trust Snape, but we didn't really get to see the little moments where he acquired that trust.

I do like this story though and I hope my criticism hasn't gotten you down. You're definitely one of my favorite authors on this site and I look forward to reading more of this story soon.

    -P.G.

    Author's Response:

Oh, don't worry. There will definitely be a lot more of Snape and Harry time.  I thought maybe that readers were getting a little bored that the story was taking too long to develop, but I see that that's not the case. I'll try to put more of Snape and Harry together in the chapter I'm working on right now.

Sirius will play a big part in this story, and Snape's relationship with Harry will take a new twist very soon.  There is a lot more to come.

Thanks for your advice though. I just didn't realise that anyone would be interested to see more of Snape and Harry together at this point, but I will definitely show more in this chapter. Thanks. I always appreciate advice from you, and since I too consider you as one of my favourite authors on here, I will definitely take your cirticism to heart and add more Harry and Snape moments.

Thanks, I"m woking on the next chapter as we speak as a matter of fact.

Chapter three and Harry's already off and making mischief. Yikes. I'm assuming that Snape will catch him, but I could be wrong.

Really, Snape has been quite nice and accommodating so far. I hope Harry starts to understand him better soon.

    -P.G.

    Author's Response:

Well, all is not as it seems!

Snape HAS been rather patient, at least as patient as Snape can be. Let's just hope that Harry can learn to trust Snape and allow him to protect him properly. It's hard for Harry to trust adults though. It might take time.,

Heh, I'm not too sure. I think Severus will probably come to pity Harry even more when he sees the extent of the damage that has been done. As always, your writing astounds me :).

    -P.G.

    Author's Response:

Darned, I just erased a big long response to you, telling you how much I appreciate your kind words! Darned computer...darned fingers.

Yeah, well Severus is going to learn more about Harry's home situation, like about him spending eleven years stashed away in a closet, and when he does, well...let's just say that I wouldn't want to be in the Dursley's shoes!!

Thank you so much, and did I tell you how much I loved your latest chapter of Suffering?  You know part of me is anxious for the epilogue, but the other part is sad to see the story end.  I really hope that you are oing to write something else soon, because I'm always so pleased to see a new story from you.

This seems like a really great start! You had my heart pounding in my chest when Harry was sneaking out at night. I'm looking forward to reading more!

    Author's Response:

LOL!  Harry will do that to you!  Nerves of steel that boy.

    Thanks for reviewing.

Great chapter, Pandora! Harry got lucky with his little cloak escapade, huh? Hopefully he's learned his lesson there.

Severus is definitely strict and no-nonsense, but really he hasn't been too unreasonable with Harry so far, and he's much better than the Dursleys for certain!

You did a good job with Hagrid. I think he'd be kind of tough to write; probably why I haven't written him yet myself. But you really captured him, and I loved Severus thinking of how Hagrid was putty in Harry's hands...so true, so true.

Now I can't wait for more on that curious little box that the Aurors discovered!

    Author's Response:

Well...this is Harry we're talking about, isn't it?  Hopefully, he'll stay put for awhile!

Yeah, I think that Snape may be strict, but he's not as cruel to Harry as he used to be, and yes, definitely he is better than the Dursleys.

Ooh, I was worried about Hagrid. I don't think I got the accent right, but I hope I captured his spirit. Yeah, the big lug is such a softie!

I think he'll be caught and maybe spanked. Snape seems very stern and into corporal punishment. Harry is disobeying Snape and if he manages to get out and wander the castle he's putting himself in danger so I think he's toast.

Well practically every story I've read so far has him giving Harry a mountain of rules and a spanking at some point.
Like the pic of Harry with Snape and the novel of rules is seems so like Snape lol.

Look forward to reading more of your story.

    Author's Response:

Uh, there is no reference to CP in my warnings.  Snape won't be a marshmellow in this, but he'll hold himself back from any physical chastisement, because Harry was so abused at the hands of the Dursleys. Trust me, it won't be easy for someone like Snape to reign himself in. He might come close to throttling Harry though!

Yeah, I love the picture of the book of rules!!  Snowflakeprincessqueengirl, is very talented, isn't she?

    Thanks.

Harry, Harry, Harry...what are you doing? His legs turn to jelly when he sees the two eyes through the window and yet he is going out to see what the creature is. That's not bravery, that's idiocy! How did Sirius (Padfoot) know that Harry ended up at Hogwarts? Surely he didn't follow the Knight Bus to London and saw Harry with snape? Oh, wait...he is at Hogwarts waiting for term to start because he knows Wormtail will be there at the start of term. I just realised that.

Snape's quarters were a big surprise...I would not have thought Severus would go in for such delicate surniture. A love seat? I thought there was too much interference caused by the magic in the air for electronic equipment to work at Hogwarts. Hermione says it's in Hogwarts a history. Also being as there are hundreds of tonnes of stone and rock in the shape of a castle above the dungeons, I doubt there would be any reception. Must be magic. The quarters seem pretty extensive also for a bachelor.

I loved reading how Severus stood at the door watching Harry sleep. When are the revelations going to come to light I wonder?

    Lesley~

    Author's Response:

Yeah, his legs turned to jelly, but then his rash Gryffindor side threw caution to the wind.  Remember that Harry had planned to sneak out before he saw the eyes at the window, so he just threw aside his fear, chalking it all up to his imagination.  Well, it will come out later the reasons that Sirius showed up at Hogwarts at this point in time. In the book, he shows up at Hogwarts because he knows that Pettigrew is there already, but at this point in my story, Ron is still in Egypt, so Sirius has followed Harry to Hogwarts for other reasons. which will be clear later.

Not all of this furniture is Snape's as will be explained later. That is why it's not as masculine or dark as Harry would have expected for Snape.  Also, as far as Harry's room goes, it was decorated by Snape,  but while the wood is similar to that in the rest of the quarters, the furniture is more modest, and not as feminine as the other pieces, nor is Snape's bedroom furniture. The electronics are aided by magic, which again will be explained later.  Snape has a special place actually in his heart for Muggles because of Lily's parents, and although Tobias was a real bastard, Snape never really fully accepted the doctrine of Voldemort about Muggles being less than worthy.

Snape's quarters are not really all that large, but don't forget that Harry expected a cave--dark and dank, and bats flying around, so we are seeing the quarters from Harry's point of view, and  Harry's room was Snape's study before, where he had a desk and some of his research books, but he transformed it for Harry. Of course Dumbledore gave him a little push, but it was Snape's decision to allow Harry the room.

Yeah, Snape is having a real internal struggle, battling inner demons. On one hand, he still sees Harry as an extension of James and we all know how he holds grudges, but he just can't stir up the same feelings of resentment and hate that he had before. Not after seeing what Harry's life is really like. The parallels to Snape's own life is making him very uncomfortable. He just doesn't know how to deal with his feelings.

I know that it's a little drawn out in this story, but things will pick up after term starts.  If I I push the plot along too fast, the story won't make sense, so I'm sorry if it seems a little slow moving right now, but there are some shocking revelations to come. I just ask a little patience for the storyline to evolve properly.

Great chapter, of course snape will catch him, i think, snape knows all. So glad they are together, can't wait for next post.

    Author's Response:

Hmm, maybe Snape will catch him, maybe he won't!

I'm glad they are together too, even THEY aren't! LOL!

Thanks, I'll try to update soon.

Aww! Glad Severus had a heart and took Harry to Hogwarts!! And I love how silent and misterious Snape is. Poor Harry! I'd kick Vernon's ass all the way! Great beginning!!

    Author's Response:

Snape does have a ticker under all that steel! I like a tall, dark an silent man!! Yeah, poor Harry, he's taking off more than he can chew.

I'm sure a lot of people would like to kick Vernon's ass all the way to Kingdom Come!  Thanks. I'm looking forward to YOUR next chappie!
