Reviews For Alea Iacta Est
At any rate, what an intense chapter! So much going on here, and so many potential revelations. Also, poor Harry dealing with all this at once. It's been interesting to see Severus struggle to deal with his new role in Harry's life, as well as maintain his own emotional distance and sanity. Sev really does have a heart...he just never expected to feel empathy toward Harry, of all people. Okay now I'm kind of rambling. tl;dr Another great chapter, and this part cracked me up: "Not hungry. Wake me up after Potions." Severus smirked. Harry must think he was Mr. Weasley, and he was in his dorm on a school day. "Harry, it's Severus, and you can sleep later." "In Potions?" the child mumbled, clearly more asleep than awake if he was assuming Severus just gave him permission to sleep during Potions. "Yes, you can sleep during Potions," Severus answered not being able to resist.
It's very believable to have had Harry and Severus have a tiny clash (if that isn't too strong a word). As they both said, neither has experience with caring/being cared for, and they are both tired and under stress. But I'm glad that they were able to talk and explain and that everything was all right. I think Harry has enough going on now without disagreements with Severus to worry about. Why do I have the feeling that it was a bad decision on DD's part to obliviate Molly...she will be most unhappy when she discovers it (and of course it will come out at some point, right?), and Molly's temper could cow even Dumbledore! And now Voldemort too! Poor Harry, they do need to start Occlumency lessons again. Surely they can do a better job of it now. Great job again! Author's Response: I don't think a tiny class was too strong of a word at all. It is highly believable that they wouldn't get along all of the time. Along with being tired and under stress, it's an adjustment to living with a new person. I know when my grandma stays with us, she never clears the time off the microwave and that always drives me nuts. It's the small little things that are different and while Harry and Sev haven't gotten to those things yet, I'm sure some will pop up. You'll have to keep reading to find out if Molly discovers Dumbledore obliviated her... Yes, Harry will need to begin Occlumency lessons again on top of everything else. I think they can do a better job of it now, too. ;) Thanks!
"Fawkes trilled disapprovingly at him, but Albus ignored the phoenix. His plan was safe for now and that was all that mattered."-Okay, I'm with Fawkes on this one. Nice one Albus *rolls eyes* He's such a jerk some...most of the time and no one ever really knows! And Sev doesn't think HE'S good with Harry? Better than the bloody Headmaster! And I'm glad you explained why he goes by "Snape" when he's a Prince. Very good! ^-^ But the WCS has me a bit worried. Hmm...hopefully they don't want to take Harry away! That would be terrible! Well, I'm off to try and sleep. No luck the past few nights, but I'll read more tomorrow! Again, very good and I give you a piece of pie! XD Author's Response: Yay, a piece of pie. I hope it's apple. Yes, Albus is acting quite like a jerk at the moment though believe it or not he has a good reason... I spent some of the night idea brainstorming, and I totally love when I came up with. WCS has an alarming letter for Severus, but now in the way you're thinking... Get some sleep, Ivy. Some extra for me, too. I have to work tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday, and I'm totally not looking forward to it. Come Monday, I'll probably sleep til like 2 just to get caught up.
First off, I got to give you "props" for your "skillz". This story is honestly one of the most well written I've read (and trust me, I've read A LOT). And although the cancer story line has been done a few times, you've managed to put a new spin on it. And you've managed to make me cry a few times, which is good. Well not good, but you know. Anyways, keep up the good work. I'm interested to see what Voldie-kins is up to now, and what that letter is. It's rather bothering me actually... OH. And Dumbledore is sneaky! You'd have thought he was Slytherin after what he did to Molly! :O I'll stop rambling now :) Author's Response: Yay a new reviewer! Thanks!! I'm glad you're liking my story enough to review. Your scheduled day with Flurry is Friday. ;) *Smiles* Thanks so much for the compliments on my writing skills. I really use this fic to try out some techniques and work on some skills to use in my original novel I'm working on. Plus, fanfiction is a lot more fun to write, and you get feedback so much faster. I've probably read those cancer fics you mentioned as I've read A LOT, too. I know what you mean about you crying being good, but not good. We'll find out about both Voldemort and the letter in the next few chapters. Dumbledore is sneaky, but I don't think he's been sneaky enough... Thanks again and don't worry about rambling. I love long reviews!
Author's Response: Yes, I gave you guys a cliffhanger. I think it actually helps me write fast because then I'm excited to write what's next. lol. ;) I have a few plans for Harry to see his friends and the Weasleys soon. I think he's pretty much comes to terms with his illness and he needed to do that before he could handle visitors. Though of course, Sev is going to be frantic and paranoid when it comes to allowing others into his quarters to see Harry. For Voldemort to keep his head down while Harry completely treated his cancer would be unrealistic. Treatment for ALL leukemia takes years though after the first about 8 months it gets easier. Plus, we're in the middle of a war, and the world doesn't stop for one person. Thanks!
Author's Response: Ugh. That had to suck that nothing worked. I'm happy to hear his reaction is spot on, of course. Thanks!
"Make it stop, please," Harry begged, his voice no louder than a whisper as he collapsed into Severus' lap. "I'm sorry," Severus cradled the child against his chest. "I can floo Miss Adamson and have her bring a different anti-emetic now, and we can try that." " Awww.... Hmm....I wonder about those letters, I really want to know what Ron and Hermoine wrote, I can guess though. Despite them being nosy, they are rightly concerned. It's not easy to be a kid and have a best friend with cancer, I would know...:-( (Then again, I almost know what it would be like to be on the other side of fence too, 'cause I got really sick and the dr. thought I had ALL but I didn't)...anyways, I am curious about Sev's letter, I wonder if it will be a letter stating Harry's real parentage. Oh about the thing with Harry losing weight and the Dr having to intervene, I wonder if that will happen. Dang, Snakeface had to go and ruin it again, Harry and Severus just can't seem to get a break from the "Hitler Wizard." ""Professor!" Harry yelled. "Voldemort...he's... my scar!" " That line sent shivers down my back, I am so anxious to hear...read...what happens next. I wonder if Voldy Pants is just angry and letting them know, or if somehow he's found out about Harry's cancer/real father. I hope that Harry will get a visitor soon, and no I ain't talking about Voldy...lol...I hope people don't believe Molly when she goes back and tells Dumby's lies. I am kinda hoping to see Lupin enter the story somehow, but love it the way it already is. It just seems that if he found out (and most likely he would, he'd want to at least visit, etc.) Anyways, I hope that you update soon because this is a fantastic story, and in fact, is my FAVORITE one. You go girl. And by the way, when does Flurry get to visit? I have a beagle-lab mix dog named Zac, but he's friendly with cats, at least the neighbors' ones, Boots and Ginger)...hehe. Please update as soon as you can. This was another chapter I read on my phone like at 1 AM and reviewed now. :-D Great job! P.S. I'm a cashier/training to be a supervisor but I've been around far long enough (8 yrs) to understand what you are going through, our visual team has those problems...not to mention we're a district store, meaning we have to train new managers and send them elsewhere and the offices are mine too...drama...drama...drama...lol. Anyways, great job! Author's Response: Thanks! Keep your wand handy still. You're right in thinking his act will be discovered. I'm looking forward to writing how that all unravels. You don't sound sadistic though I admit I have a tendency to torture my characters. In my original novel I'm working on, a father ends up killing his own son out of mercy. That was like the most difficult thing I've ever had to write. I think Harry will continue to have problems with the side effects of chemo. I'm happy to hear you loved those paragraphs. Sev's trying to do the best he can with Harry even though it's strange for him to comfort a child. We'll find out about the letters very soon. I think I was also tested for leukemia once when I thought I had mono. I was fine even though I still swear I had like a very mild form of mono. lol. I missed a week of school and just felt horrible, but I wasn't nauseous or throwing up. I was just super tired, felt generally icky, and sensitive to bright light. Hitler wizard, what a great name for Voldemort! We'll of course find out what he's up to in the next chapter. Harry will eventually have some visitors. I have a plan where he'll see everyone soon, but first he has to get through his week on chemo. Yay, it's your favorite story! That's exciting. I think Flurry is lined up for a Thursday visit for you. PS: I hope to get the next chapter out in a few days. it depends how I balance this story and the fact that I need to work a bit on my fest fic. Also, we're getting in a shipment tomorrow that's like double, almost triple what we normally get. Ugh. I'm not looking forward to it even though we should be getting in wintery stuff which is exciting even if it hit 90 today. Ugh.
And I have to say, I'm really glad that Dumbledore obliviated Mrs. Weasley. It kinda annoyed me when Ron and Hermione weaseled the information out of Madam Pomfrey. So yay Dumbledore! Now hopefully that works... I'm very curious to see what is in that envelope addressed to Severus. So what day do I get to keep Flurry? ;-) Looking forward to the next chapter! Author's Response: Thanks! I think we sometimes forget that the books happened in the 90s meaning that's like ten years worth of medical discoveries and drug developments that we're losing out on, which in such an ever-changing field is huge. A lot of the drugs and stuff they use now weren't invented/developed then. I don't think the oblivate will end up working in the long run... The envelope certainly has some interesting contents. We might not get back to it next chapter since I'm not sure if the Voldemort inconvenience will take up a whole chapter or not, but we'll get back to it soon. I think Flurry's scheduled day with you is Wednesday. ;) Thanks!
Is pedialite like gatorade? True we did know old Moldy-shorts wouldn't stay quiet long, but wishing he would stay out of the picture just a bit longer doesn't hurt, but it sucks that it comes right after the treatment :( Though I wonder what Harry was trying to say >_< Well I'll find out soon enough. Off to get ready for classes *sigh* Author's Response: LOL I'm not sure if Flurry minds dust or not, but kitty sneezes are so cute. Pedialyte is like gatorade only with a lot less sugar, and apparently that missing sugar is what makes it taste not so good. lol. Yes, Voldemort just doesn't know when to stay away. Of course, he doesn't know he should be staying away. Thanks! |
