I loved how you have Severus hide his identity as the Prince heir and the glamours. I can only imagine the turmoil he's going through, what with the discovery that Harry is his son. And I particularly liked how you wrote how Harry's illness suddenly hit him much harder, now that Severus knows that Harry is his son. He had grown to care for Harry before, and was fully devoted to caring for him...but like you wrote, he was able to maintain a bit of a barrier until now. But now it's his child who is so ill and suffering and in danger. Yeah, that would be quite a blow. And I can't wait to see how Harry reacts to the news! Maybe he'll take it pretty well as he and Severus have grown so much closer now? Great chapter again! Oh, and I meant to add that Albus is really annoying me with his eternal meddling and I hope he'll get his comeuppance soon! Author's Response: Thanks so much, Kristeh. After I threw out canon a bit, I was like why not? I think it brings another layer to Severus, plus I just really wanted Harry to have cool, crazy grandparents. He deserves some crazy relatives that I think he'll enjoy and they might work today to give Severus some headaches eventually. ;) But first, Harry and Sev need to get through this, and it's going to be a rocky ride for a while. They have some issues they'll need to work out. They are two stubborn people and so it might not be easy at first. Keep reading. Dumbledore's comeuppance is coming. ;)

I'm glad you liked the little tweaks. I needed to do something to make it plausible and that was the thing I thought of. I'm sure Harry will be surprised when he finds out.

As much as I love Alan Rickman, he looks way older than Hogwart's youngest professor who's in his 30s, especially since wizards and witches live longer so I expect they age slower. I don't think Dumbledore steered Sev away from skipping breakfast in the Great Hall. Sev is really a solitary person, and i can totally see him wishing to get away from Albus and his lemon confections at the first chance he got. An interesting idea with the owls, but I truly think the owls got lost on their own. I picture the dungeons as a confusing maze and although owls are very smart, I think the dungeons even confuse people. Sev hasn't told me if he likes pecans or not. Perhaps he'll cook something that contains them. We'll have to wait and see. ;) Thanks!

Okay, I am complicated. I've always lived in the south. But I say Pee-can. My dad is from the north though, so I'm usually more of a northerner. Make of that what you will. lol ;-) Author's Response: Thanks! I think it would be somewhat unrealistic if Harry didn't have lingering insecurities after his time spent with the Dursleys. I'm glad you enjoyed Sev's transformation. I think Harry will be quite surprised when he sees Severus like that. |
