Reviews For Alea Iacta Est
Lily's letter explains so much and I feel so badly for both Severus and Harry, to have lost all those years together and for Harry to have had to grow up with the Dursleys. I am so glad that Severus has figured out the truth now though. Hopefully they can begin to make up for lost time. Lovely chapter! Author's Response: This was one of my favorite chapters so I'm happy to hear you enjoyed it. The presumptuous grandmother was really fun to play with and Lily's letter was one of those things that almost wrote itself. I honestly didn't plan for it to be that long, but it just kept coming. It's sad they lost so many years together. They'll never be able to get those back, but hopefully they have some happy memories coming in the future. Thanks!
Author's Response: Well DD is trying to keep his vow, but I think he's twisting the vow to suit him.
Author's Response: Thanks! I enjoyed writing Lily's letter and concentrating on Sev's journey in that chapter.
Author's Response: For a while there, the website was acting a bit strange, so I'm assuming the site ate your original review. ;) I'm happy to hear you really liked the chapter, and did you notice anything else? You're the lucky winner of the 350th review! Umm the prize is, uh how about some of my weather? We reached 79 today, so I'm sure we can afford to send you up some degrees. I've been waiting for it to get cold for like ever it seems. Stupid Southern weather. Grr. Though it'll be nice for the local Renaissance faire I'm going to next weekend. I've never been to one before and I've always wanted to go, so I'm excited. Thanks again, Ivy!
Author's Response: I think Sev shares in your sentiment of the germ thing. lol. I went to a kids dentist/orthodontist in my teens. He was amazing, and I miss him as my dentist so much. lol. I had to make him trip to WCS a little fun. He couldn't have just walked in and seen someone right away. ;) He had to suffer around a room full of kids first. lol. Thanks!
What position does the Prince family hold in the Wizarding World that everyone reacts to Severus' identity the way they do? Don't worry about the chapter being too long (though I'm sure you were wondering as you wrote it if you'd ever finish it). It was a most excellently written chapter and I'm growing more and more intrigued with the stuff that went on in the past and in the background. Bravissimi! I'm really looking forward to the next chapter. Dancingkatz Author's Response: Thanks! I picture the Prince family as an old wealthy pureblood family, and as such holds a somewhat distinguished place in society, or rather a very distinguished place before Sev's parents decided to throw their own coup d'etat concerning wizarding traditions and how purebloods were supposed to act and live. Even so, I imagine the Prince name to become somewhat of an enigma in the wizarding world since Sev kinda disappeared. I'm sure there's many crazy rumors about where he went to. It wasn't really so much as wondering if I'd ever finish it, but I couldn't believe how long Lily's letter became. I expected it to be around 500 words, and I think it came in around 2,000! She just had lots and lots to say. I'm happy to hear you like hearing about the stuff that went on in the past and in the background because I'm sure there's more to surface.
Author's Response: I had to stop somewhere. ;) Dumbledore is being his meddling self by intercepting Sev's mail. You'll see what happens next soon, but I'm sure we'll see some Harry and Sev interaction and the Order meeting in the next chapter.
I absolutely LOVED this line: ""My child," Severus hissed, his fingernails digging into his fists, "happens to be very ill, so ill that the common cold could kill him so excuse me if I wish to take the necessary precautions to ensure my child has a fighting chance to live." " Way to go Severus! My heart broke at this line, "think you wanted your own son or daughter to cherish and experience the perfect childhood, unlike the unconventional and at times neglectful childhood that you endured between your parents and aunt and uncle." Poor Severus, poor Harry. Anyways, a great chapter and I hope that you update soon. I look forward to more interaction between Harry and Severus, as well as the infamous Order meeting. Great job! Author's Response: Dumbledore isn't fully innocent. He'll still have to answer to Sev, and I don't think the Order meeting will go over well for him. I'm so happy you loved that line. I thought it was so typical of what happens in real life. People half the time just can't help but comment on others. It's natural to want to give your child more and better than what you had, and I couldn't resist giving Severus something to live for. In canon, his life is so depressing in a way. He has no one, and I know that makes him the perfect spy, but everyone deserves someone and what better than a child to love and cherish. Also, everyone has dreams and I wanted to show that even a cold person like Severus at one time had them. Next chapter will definitely include some interaction between Harry and Sev. Harry was feeling a little ignored this chapter, but he'll be back. Thanks! :) |
