Reviews For Alea Iacta Est
I liked how Snape lost his temper... his thoughts... he is so much in character. Harry is really interesting too. Loved the description of him at the end of the chapter with the partial mohawk! XD Great chapter! Well worth the wait. Author's Response: Yes, Harry is finally going to see Ron, and I predict it'll be very awkward. The heart to heart conversations are some of my favorite parts to write. You learn so much about the characters from them. Yay, I'm so happy to hear Sev's in character for you. I couldn't let him loose his temper, and I predict future father/son clashes because they both have that temper. Thanks!
Author's Response: Eww, dental surgery! I hope they gave you good meds. I'm sure they'll be fine, too. They need to go through an adjustment period, more so on Harry's part, but being together nearly 24/7 and Harry's cancer will help speed up the process a bit. It always seemed weird to me that Harry would end up an Auror after being hunted his whole life, and I wanted him to have options. Thanks!
Author's Response: Thanks! I'm not entirely sure Harry isn't comfortable with it because it's Severus, but more so because he really isn't used to even the idea of having a living biological parent. It has to be a complete shock and he was only told that morning, so it may be some time yet before he's fully comfortable.
Author's Response: Thanks! I felt Harry needed to show some of his anger a little and his snapping at Severus was part of it. Interesting I think will be the word for Ron's visit. lol.
Author's Response: I'm glad you liked it. I couldn't leave Harry in pain for too long. I'm not that cruel. ;) Thanks!
Author's Response: Thanks! Hopefully with classes ending I'll have some extra time to devote to writing.
Was Ms. Adamson frowning because of the extensive damage to Harry's nerves? I think so, but never hurts to be sure. *smiles* Hmm, in almost every chapter as of late, there has been a mention of Harry's hair. Whether it was begein like in this chapter where Harry simply notices that it was out of place from lying down to when Severus carded his hand through the child's hair like in other chapters. I wonder how they will take the inevitable coming up (hopefully) soon. This was my favorite part: ""I'll ask again. Do you really wish to be an Auror?" "Yes...I don't know.... no," Harry felt like a weight had been lifted off his shoulder. Snape of all people was assuring him he was his own person, not a robot that must do what people told or expected him to. "I don't know what else to do..." "You don't need to know now or even by the time you finish school. You could spend a few years traveling, get a degree at a Muggle university, open a shop, the possibilities are endless,"" That shows that Severus really does care for Harry and the child can see that. Looking forward to the next chapter, I am glad to see that Ron will be visiting Harry, and seeing that the "greasy git" is not such a git any longer. *Going over to ffnet to see your question* Hmm, no question, but I'm glad that Slytherin is in the lead. I wonder what Harry's next affliction is going to be. Good luck on your finals and congrats on another year of schooling (almost!) done! Have fun abroad, that's coming up soon, isn't it? Author's Response: Thanks! Harry's having a war with his subconscious at the moment. Deep down he knows Severus is genuine, but there's that doubt and disbelief that he'll need to get past. He's really insecure because of his upbringing, and that's effecting him now. The inevitable concerning Harry's hair is coming up soon. However, I bet you won't believe that this chapter's mention of hair wasn't intentional. I just wanted Harry to laugh at the end and considering he had fallen asleep it's only natural his hair would be in disarray. I always thought it was unbelievable that Harry became an Auror in canon after being hunted his whole life. I have some ideas what he'll eventually want to do, but I'm keeping those to myself for now. Though I do have to envy Harry. To have enough money they he doesn't need to worry about getting a job or student loans. *sighs* I'll make sure to give you your points. ;) Thanks for the good luck. I think I aced my lit exam this afternoon. Just one stupid paper left to write. I leave at the beginning of July for my study abroad trip, and I'm also heading up to Chicago next week for my best friend's graduation ceremony. I'm excited for both trips. I just got my passport in the mail this week, and it's making everything seem more real. Now, I just have to figure out how I'm going to pack everything for month in like one suitcase. lol.
I'm sure that they will have another set-back (or two) but it's nice to see Severus and Harry trying to talk things through. Thanks for the update. Author's Response: Yes, Harry passed Potions! He's understandably excited. Of course Harry and Sev will have more setbacks, and there will always be some small fights. Harry is a teenager and sometimes a rather rebellious one after all. Thanks!
Author's Response: Harry's having a little war between his subconscious and himself. His subconscious knows what's best, but Harry's resisting. It's his angry, irrational self that's preventing him from giving in. That chapter was quite a bonding chapter and that theme continues into the next one though it's quite a bit happier, at least by the end. ;) You sure are a Slytherin. I noticed you posted the same review over on FF.net. I'll be sure to add your points, but I hope you don't mind if I don't respond to your review over there as it would be the same. Thanks for the good luck. I'm pretty sure I aced my final this afternoon. I was actually over prepared. |
