Nice chapter! Author's Response: Hope she doesn’t end up scaring you too much... although she does have the whole creepy thing down doesn’t she *shudders too*
Draco... Hmm, I don't mind Draco being included as long as he isn't turned into A slytherin angel. He's a horror to rival Snape and he should remain so. Another oen who can torture Harry. You even have McGonagall being painful and only thinking of herself and the verbal bollocking Severus can serve up to her. She naturally seems to assume that Harry deserves these detentions, even though she knows it is Snape (whom she has always known hates Harry with a vengeance) and Umbridge (whose job it is to bring Harry and Dumbledore down). So, Harry has no allies on staff at all. Dumbledore may be keeping his distance from Harry, but he must know what is going on, and if he could not interfere with Umbridges plans, he could have spoken to Snape and told him to pull his head in. But of course, then the story wouldn't be what you have planned. I am so glad to see that you have Ron being so supportive. He is always overlooked to make Hermione the most helpful of Harry's friends. I have always found that very annoying, particularly in the movies. Poor old Rupert Grint is usually relegated to about the same billing as and has about the same amount of screen time as Tom Felton. Emma often gets more screen time than Dan. And haven't I gone off on a tangent? Sorry. I just wanted to say, 'go Ron'. Lesley~ Author's Response: Wow, such a huge review! Thank you! And I'm so glad the chapter was'nt full of errors, I overedit because of my fear of that so I'm glad it's at least working ^^ although Harry's depression is a good distraction from the writing itself huh ^^ Hehe, I do kind of suggest as much dont I? but then you have to keep in mind that no matter how awful Snape is, he is part of the order so overall he has the best interests of everyone at heart *coughbullshitcough* ^^ Aww now who's cruel?! hehe, well Draco will be Draco, he's definitely no angel but at the same time, well there's more to him than mindless evil too. But then, he still wont tell me for sure if he wants to be a part of this fic or not beyond flitting in and out occasionally... perhaps he has commitment issues? hehe ^^, imagine! And he always seemed so loyal! *cough...* ^-^ McGonagall. Hmm. Well, she is a bit distant I always thought, for a head of house I mean. Not exactly 'in the fold' in terms of house society is she? I think she isnt so much for these detentions as she is unaware of them for the most part. And Harry can be very disobedient when he wants to be (in her mind at least). Shame he didnt just let the hat put him in Slytherin. For all his faults Sev's always been much more... observant. As he'll prove here ^^. And Dumbledore, another interesting one - you sure know where to focus your questions, well done ^^, keeping me on my toes ^^ - be reassured, he would stop the detentions if he knew what was going on, he's not sadistic so much as keeping a 'safe' distance. But then, you employ someone as a teacher of minors, you dont expect the employee to be mortally wounding them, no matter how toadlike they may be. And with Snape, well we all know he does tell him that there's more to Harry than he thinks, but will Snape listen? *hits Sev upside the head* too bloody stubborn TT I think with Ron and Hermione, well Hermione's always gonna be more demonstrative and affectionate physically 'cos she's a girl - not being a boy I may be wrong but I've always thought that girls are just far more huggy and stuff you know? - but that doesnt mean Ron doesnt care and when they live together and sleep in the same room and have done everynight for 5 years, well I just think the bond between them is going to be strong. I dont think Ron's always given enough credit, he may not know all that Harry's been through or always understand why he acts the way he does but he is a good person, he's not about to ignore his best friend you know? And I agree with you about the movies, but then that's politics in a way - there are so many more male characters than female, the ones they do have have to be played up as much as possible or we'd be off on a tangent about equality instead ^-^ (and what a fun tangent it is ^-^) Go Ron indeed ^-^
I vote strongly that we NOT include Draco, by the way. :D And if we must, can we please not make him a tragic hero figure? I don't mind if he is canon and then has a turn around, but I don't like made-up tragic histories because they tend to lead to excusing his abominable behavior. But, up to you. As for quality vs. speed, it depends on how wide the difference in updating is. :D Since I didn't catch your last update, I'll just say that extra high quality is worth a lot, so long as the gap isn't so long that I forget about your story! Hehe I should keep a ‘poor Harry’ tally, if I had a dollar for every time I’ve had that in reviews... well, I’d probably have less than 20 bucks but I’d take that ^-^ and no, of course not, the more people who want to poison Umbridge the better, it means I’m achieving the write reader response to her (and that readers tend to like Harry more than Umbridge, and who wouldn’t? ^-^) and I think slapping Sirius wouldn’t be remiss either (he can be a bit thick cant he?)... and as for Snape... well he does like to take his time doesn’t he? You’re a little violent aren’t you? Hehe, but then I think anyone who reads this (or writes it ^-^) agrees wholeheartedly with your desire to dole out some ‘sense’ to my silly characters ^^ And thanks for having an opinion on Draco, not many did but all the ones that did including you are taken into account – I can understand not wanting Draco included (I’ve read many fics where his inclusion couldn’t have annoyed me more) and he will most certainly not be a tragic hero figure (XP yuck) no, at the moment he’s popping up from time to time but he hasn’t decided who he wants to be yet and I can assure you there will be no ‘poor wittle draco’s anywhere in this fics future ^^ And excellent point about the update time, I’ll try not to let it get like that again ^^ and I’ll get the quality to as perfect as I can before updating as well (I find if I leave it on my comp too long without updating I end up being unhappy with it for whatever reason so it’s better all round to update faster anyway huh ^^) Thanks so much for your review, I love ones that help shape the story like yours ^-^ have fun x

Author's Response: Thanks ^-^ I agree, she’s the perfect antagonist because she’s just naturally malicious and seems happy to stop at absolutely nothing to get what she wants. Hehe thanks (I think) for the twisted comment, I seem to have a talent for making people think ‘poor Harry’ and making her cruel... not that that’s hard ^^) – if you like seeing how twisted she can get you might be interested in chapter six... As for Draco, I always like to see him rise above the evil he's surrounded by and start being his own person, but I'd say go with where the story and characters lead you on that. Author's Response: Thanks so much, this is one of the nicest reviews I’ve gotten, especially that you find my writing effortless, I’ll try to keep that in my future writing ^^ That I could make you feel so many things so acutely is so fantastic to hear (although I’m sorry I left you feeling so many negative things, especially the hurt in your chest, *send you lots of Harry hugs to make up for it* - perhaps I should write some fluff to counteract the effects of this fic? ^-^) Hehe, and it’s never too soon for Sev to step in but unfortunately he does seem to want to take his time in this instance – I let the character’s have free reign a lot of the time and he just doesn’t want to lose his reputation yet (stubborn bugger that he is ^-^) And thank you so much for your comments about Draco, I think that’s exactly where I want to let Draco go in this fic and you put it into words wonderfully (overcoming evil and being himself but not becoming the epitome of all things good in the world, that’s just a bit too OOC for my liking ^^) Thanks for reading and reviewing, have fun ^-^

I love how close Ron, Hermione, and Harry are, and how Ron is there for Harry. Of course Hermione would be too, if she were close by at night. But I'm so glad that Harry at least has them right now. Poor Harry, I'm feeling so sorry for him right now I can hardly stand it. Something truly horrible needs to happen to Umbridge and I do hope it happens soon, lol! Harry has so much on him right now. It seems that he is close to the breaking point. He has nasty and unfair detentions with Snape, plus Umbridge's abuse, nightmares, and now the disappointment and hurt of Sirius' careless words. Once again, thank goodness he has his friends' support, but they can only do so much. Harry needs an adult...and I can't wait to see a relationship develop with Severus. I really loved the chapter and I'm looking forward to the next one. As for Draco...I think you should decide how you feel about him, and if you want to include him or not. Either way is fine with me! I know, I set myself a tri-weekly updating schedule and break it after three chapters... maybe I'm not one for schedules after all ^^ I do so love the relationships between Harry, Ron and Hermione in your fics and so many others, and with Harry having to face Snape and Umbridge I thought it only fair that the golden trio at least had each other... anything less would just be cruel (the incredible amount of humour in thats statement will become obvious when my sadistic side comes out in chapter 6... poor poor Harry, who on earth wold entrust him to me? ^^) I also love the fact that Harry can often only count on Sev for honesty and an adults care for a child rather than a wizards care for the boy-who-lived, he so rarely gets it and its so nice when (nice) fanficcers let him have Sev ^^ Oh, and sorry... Umbridge's abuse isn't quite done... umm... you may hate me after chapter 6 if you think it's bad now... just keep in mind that whatever she does to Harry, she'll get worse in the end... and that this may well turn into a longish fic...
