Reviews For Tricks and Treats
Oh and by the way, I have a Draco/Hermione Halloween story up on ff.net--it's a companion piece to Bubble Bubble, the flip side of the coin, so to speak. It's called Trick or Treat Slytherin Style. Hermione makes Draco go trick or treating with her in her old neighborhood. And lots of things happen. Author's Response: Oh thanks Snapegirl. Yeah I love Hermione and Ron interaction, and wirting it is so much fun. Severus is trying hard, but he's really over-protective. Sirius' presence was the icing on the cake for Harry.
Oh, I'll go check out your story!! Thanks.
Excellent story. Author's Response: Thanks! I love the Ron and Hermione bickering; it's so cute, and it's definitely foreshadowing to them having a thing for each other. Yeah, Sirius showing up is a surprise for Harry, and Snape is not going to be a happy camper when he learns about Sirius!
Author's Response: Oh thanks! I love writing Ron too. Yeah...Snape is not going to be particularly pleased when he finds out that Sirius is his neighbour.
It was sweet how Severus had spoken with Harry about Halloween and had helped him to feel differently about it. I understand completely how Harry would not feel right about celebrating this day (in fact my SC Harry is like that, as you know) but at the same time, I know that James and Lily are all right and they would want Harry to enjoy his childhood and to be happy. I think it would be all right with them for Harry to dress up and go trick-or-treating. In fact, I'm sure they would love to see that, lol. And it shows great perception, sensitivity, and concern for Harry for Severus to understand his emotions and to reassure him. Ron and Hermione were wonderful, perfectly in character. Ron is just so funny...anything for free sweets indeed. When I re-read the canon books, I always chuckle at his lines. He really does a clever sense of humor at times. And I think that Ron's contribution to the Trio is sometimes overlooked and underestimated, but I think he really does do a lot to ease Harry's burden and to help cheer him up. And while I don't know if there's anything in canon to support my belief, but I do think that Ron is aware of heavy Harry's burden is and how hard things are for him, and that some of his light-hearted comic lines are an intentional effort on his part to help his friend. The Muggle children are cute, especially little Lesley, and I loved how Severus is accommodating Harry's need to be with his friends and trying his best to make them feel welcome. And the haunted house was great! Bringing Sirius (and Remus) into the story, and letting Sirius be freed so that Harry can have them too was just the icing on the cake. And I'm glad that despite his own feelings, Severus understands that Harry cares for them and won't stand in his way. Thank you for this fantastic story, Pandora! Author's Response: Oh thanks Kristeh. Oh that is true, I forgot that you had had a chapter about that very subject. Halloween would be difficult for Harry, wouldn't it? But it was never brought up in Canon, was it? I mean, we saw him enjoy the feast, along with the others, and no one ever mentioned it. But it is a valid point that Harry would find the day difficult. Severus of course, is still learning how to be a father, but he realises that he has a lot to make up for. Whether he likes it or not, James is part of the reason that he gets to be a part of Harry's life, and he owes the man, his son's life, and that day is as much a joyous occasion, as it is a sad one. I think that Severus was trying to show Harry that he can't live his life in the past; he has to move on . These are lessons, that he, himself has to learn.
Yeah, I love Ron and Hermione, and I think that Ron is a very funny character. I loved him in the most recent movie. He just has such potential, but yeah, he is overlooked as an important character and influence in Harry's life.
I loved writing little Lesley, and if you haven't read "Finding Ginny", you really should I won't tell you too much, because it will spoil the plot for you if you decide to go read it, but her character "Bonnie" inspired my little "Lesley". Thus the name!!
Well...Severus doesn't realise yet that Sirius and Remus are so close. I'm not sure if he'll be 'that" understanding when he learns that they are his neighbours! :)
Author's Response: Thanks. It was just a light story that I couldn't resist to write. Yeah, I thought that it was fitting that Snape was paranoid about hte candies. Yeah, we all had to go through it, didn't we?
Ron is quite ignorant about the Muggle world, isn't he? Thanks RK. Looking forward to some writing from you too! |
