I've no doubt that Dumbledore was at least partially aware of the kind of existance Harry led in that household. I also have no doubt that, even if Harry had told him everything, that he would have still sent the child back to them. Madam Pomphrey's concerns were a red flag and, sadly, he ignored it.
I'm glad that Severus pushed Harry to talk. I'm not sure that using Legilmancy was the right way to get the truth, though, even if he was expecting Harry to lie, but I do understand why he chose to do so. At least this much is true, Dumbledore won't be able to stop Severus from claiming Harry, who is biologically his child, and keeping him away from the Dursleys.
Author's Response: Yeah, I believe that despite having overall good intentions, Dumbledore is very much a puppetmaster - thus, the 'Dumbledore goggles' as my best friend has dubbed them. I also believe that realistic characters are fallible. Therefore, though, Severus using Legilimancy probably wasn't the best way to go about things, I think it's something he would do.
Anyhow, thanks for the feedback. More to come.
