Reviews For When the Boat Comes In
Author's Response: Thanks. Yes, while there are some criminals who are equally brutal and cruel to their families, many have very different personas, depending on who they're with. Although it's not pleasant, dividing our fellow creatures into 'people' and 'non-people' is a practice stemming back into pre-history. A common example is a child who, whilst wolfing down beef with gusto, would go green at the very thought of eating horse; as the pony is considered 'people', i.e. a sentient creature with feelings, the child could not stomach eating it. The cow, on the other hand, is a 'non-person', meaning that the same scruples do not apply.
I love how you are bringing cannon events into the story while still making the plot your own. Really great job on characterization and plotting. I'm in awe. T Author's Response: Thanks for the review. I'm really glad thay you're enjoying it ^^
Author's Response: Lol! Yup, Salazar is pretty persuasive; introduce Hissy to Harry or wait till he finds the basilisk himself. Poor Severus.
Author's Response: Thanks ^^ I think Salazar, while very useful in some respects, causes Severus a fair amount of worry in others (particularly the basilisk issue lol!) He's like one of those Grandfathers who sneakily manipulate their children into allowing their grandchildren to do many interesting, exciting but not absolutely safe things.
I can just imagine how hard it is for the children to remain still for what probably seems like lifetimes to them. Children are rarely good at sitting still at all...let alone for long stretches of time. Great chapter! By the way...I loved the Goldilocks comment. I wonder how Lucius would react to being called that to his face? Author's Response: Thanks ^^ I thought that, as the entrance to the RoR is shown to be able to open anywhere in the castle, DH, it might have been that way for a reason; as Slytherin obviously had a talent for magical architecture, maybe the Basilisk didn't travel in the pipes, maybe it had it's own little portal to wherever it needed to be. Of course, this has obvious problems for Severus lol! (I don't know whether Lucius would be flattered or outraged at Salazar's nickname; it's something to be distinguished by such a wizard as Slytherin but...)
Author's Response: Thanks ^^ I'm glad you like my portrayal of them :)
Author's Response: Thanks for the review. Harry will never get over his abuse; even though he's very happy now, the memories are, naturally, very upsetting. However, these memories will teach Harry compassion and empathy, so it helps him in one respect and, as the years pass, the grief will fade.
Author's Response: Thanks ^^ hope you enjoy it |
