Reviews For When the Boat Comes In
I was much too far out all my life And not waving but drowning. Author's Response: It's also a song by Clifford T Ward, I like a little intertextuality now and again
Author's Response: Thanks ^^ this chapter was really hard to write and I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Author's Response: Thanks for the review. Harry's capable of great compassion and, as Severus' story is one which invites sympathy, Harry will not think badly of his father. Lucius is going to see to it that Trelawney doesn't even remember who was listening at the door on that fateful night so Harry won't find out about Severus' spying. If he did, however, I think Harry would still understand although, of course, it would be hard on him. This is why Severus is not going to tell him; no good would be achieved by it.
I'm happy that this strengthened Harry's love for his insecure, intellectual father. He's pretty skilled at comforting Severus. Author's Response: Thanks ^^. Harry has had a very good teacher; after being comforted by Severus, he knows all the tricks lol!
Author's Response: Thanks ^^ I'm glad you're enjoying it
Author's Response: Thanks ^^. Severus has always struck me as a very vulnerable man; people who are as spiky and reserved as he is are very rarely cold or insensitive, it it generally the complete opposite. In discovering his father's vulnerablity, Harry will respect Severus even more and, as Severus' story invites sympathy, Harry's anger will only be directed towards those who hurt his father.
Author's Response: Thanks ^^
But it is a liberating moment too. Trying to live up to perfection is too difficult and scary. When we realize our parents are human with human frailities is when we first start loving as humans and not as just parents. Author's Response: Thanks for the review. I quite agree; in the past, Harry hero worshipped Severus, believing him to be perfect. However, now he's able to see that his father is flawed, Harry can grow to love Severus as the brave, strong, clever and good person that he is, whilst knowing that his father's heart is as vulnerable as his own.
Great chapter! Author's Response: Thanks for the review. I agree; Severus is much more worthy of respect than many others who, having lead easier lives, have never erred and Harry can see that, even though Severus made a mistake, he tried his best to rectify it.
Author's Response: Thanks ^^ I'm really glad you enjoyed it :) |
