Snape’s advice feels very practical and immediately useful. I love seeing the barrier between him and Harry fading. Great chapter, as ever!

Wow, these have been some very difficult chapters...beautifully written, as always, and I've enjoyed them, but it's so tragic what has happened with Anthony, and the burden of guilt that Harry feels over it.

I know you said that there is another version of this story, a Snarry one, and I suppose in that Anthony needed to be gotten out of the way to develop that relationship. Since this one has Severus and Harry in a different relationship (Sorry, I can't remember if you said it would end up being a father/son or mentor story) I wonder if that means that Anthony might recover and could return to be Harry's romantic interest. It's just so sad to think of him being like a vegetable forever.

I am glad that Severus and Harry are making progress, that Severus has helped Harry to see a way to focus through his grief (if that is indeed the best way to handle it), and most of all, that Severus has experienced love and is softened by it.

Great job and I can't wait for more.

    Author's Response:

Hi Kristeh. Thank you for your lovely review. I appreciate that you picked up on many of the subtleties in the chapter.

Yes, this part was rough but there are a few reasons why these events happened (not just Anthony) and they will become evident further down the road. In reference to the way Harry has decided to handle his grief, essentially- avoiding it by keeping busy, is definately not something I condone. He's just a teenage boy at this point, looking to the adults around him, trying to find a way to handle everything.

As anyone knows that has dealt with the loss of a loved one, grief is a process: shock, denial, anger, acceptance. JKR visited this scenario in Order of the Phoenix, where we see a bitter Harry. We visited the 'shock' phase in this chapter and will touch on the others in the next couple of chapters. But, Helena is still around and things will start to look up.

And yes, I love the fact that Severus, who has been so closed off, for so long, literally had Harry's love march itself right into Sev's heart and subconscious and 'camp out' while he was unconscious. That love left its mark and awoke within Severus an awareness.  I've always thought that Severus Snape, being so intelligent and having the ability to be a double agent, would obviously be an individual capable of discernment and insight. I which to develop these attributes.

And finally, the fact that Harry CAME to Severus for guidance was a major step, a 'Turning Point' if you will in their new relationship. Severus didn't send the boy on his way but instead reached out (as best he could) and tried to help. He even felt concern when Harry's comments hinted at his own mortality.

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. Hugs, SHaria

Avoiding the issues won't help and I think that something is going to happen soon that will prove it. Harry needs to be given a reason to go on or his depression will lead to terrible things. I know that Dumbledore thought that he was helping, but he didn't need to tell Harry that his love put yet another person in danger. Is the man TRYING to make Harry even more depressed and unhappy? I have a bad feeling that Harry is going to eventually try to avoid any and all relationships....

Author's Response: Don't give up the ship silverstargirl! I'm sorry this chapter got you so worked up and I promise things will get better. It wasn't that Dumbledore thought he was 'helping', rather that he needed Harry to understand the situation for his own protection. Hang in there (boy, I seem to be saying that a lot lately : )  Hugs, SHaria

I love that Harry and Sev had lunch together. Will Mr. Goldstein get better at all? Love the quote, great chapter.

Author's Response: Thanks missny1.  So, this entire attack on Harry, injury to Anthony, thing that happened with Severus is the catalyst that brings Harry to Severus (which happened in this chapter). There are positive and negative outcomes from what happened, and that's all I'm gonna say about that. You'll have to wait and see/read. I'm glad you liked the chapter and thanks for reviewing. hugs, SHaria

Thanks for the update. This was a sad chapter, hopefully things will get better for Harry.

Author's Response: I agree. Harry has been through a rough spell but things will get better. Hang in there and thanks for the review karee. SHaria
