Reviews For Eclipse of the Soul, the Sevitus version
Author's Response: Thanks for reviewing silverstargirl. Well, I kind of planned it that way- his being in the right place at the right time. We have a long journey ahead of us, so hang on for the ride. Hugs, SHaria
Author's Response: You lost me on the romaji thing Orpheneritus. I'll have to google that. Influences from the orient pop up throughout the trilogy but the main influx will be in the last book: What Matters Most. (But I think I am only going to do a Sevitus version for only this first fic). I am pleased you are enjoying the story and thanks so much for sharing. Hugs, SHaria
Update soon, pretty please? Author's Response: That wasn't even the cliff-hanger! LOL I'll try and get the next one up this week. Thanks for much for touching bases Lasseg. Hugs, SHaria
I know you said that there is another version of this story, a Snarry one, and I suppose in that Anthony needed to be gotten out of the way to develop that relationship. Since this one has Severus and Harry in a different relationship (Sorry, I can't remember if you said it would end up being a father/son or mentor story) I wonder if that means that Anthony might recover and could return to be Harry's romantic interest. It's just so sad to think of him being like a vegetable forever. I am glad that Severus and Harry are making progress, that Severus has helped Harry to see a way to focus through his grief (if that is indeed the best way to handle it), and most of all, that Severus has experienced love and is softened by it. Great job and I can't wait for more. Author's Response: Hi Kristeh. Thank you for your lovely review. I appreciate that you picked up on many of the subtleties in the chapter. Yes, this part was rough but there are a few reasons why these events happened (not just Anthony) and they will become evident further down the road. In reference to the way Harry has decided to handle his grief, essentially- avoiding it by keeping busy, is definately not something I condone. He's just a teenage boy at this point, looking to the adults around him, trying to find a way to handle everything. As anyone knows that has dealt with the loss of a loved one, grief is a process: shock, denial, anger, acceptance. JKR visited this scenario in Order of the Phoenix, where we see a bitter Harry. We visited the 'shock' phase in this chapter and will touch on the others in the next couple of chapters. But, Helena is still around and things will start to look up. And yes, I love the fact that Severus, who has been so closed off, for so long, literally had Harry's love march itself right into Sev's heart and subconscious and 'camp out' while he was unconscious. That love left its mark and awoke within Severus an awareness. I've always thought that Severus Snape, being so intelligent and having the ability to be a double agent, would obviously be an individual capable of discernment and insight. I which to develop these attributes. And finally, the fact that Harry CAME to Severus for guidance was a major step, a 'Turning Point' if you will in their new relationship. Severus didn't send the boy on his way but instead reached out (as best he could) and tried to help. He even felt concern when Harry's comments hinted at his own mortality. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. Hugs, SHaria
Author's Response: Don't give up the ship silverstargirl! I'm sorry this chapter got you so worked up and I promise things will get better. It wasn't that Dumbledore thought he was 'helping', rather that he needed Harry to understand the situation for his own protection. Hang in there (boy, I seem to be saying that a lot lately : ) Hugs, SHaria
Author's Response: Thanks missny1. So, this entire attack on Harry, injury to Anthony, thing that happened with Severus is the catalyst that brings Harry to Severus (which happened in this chapter). There are positive and negative outcomes from what happened, and that's all I'm gonna say about that. You'll have to wait and see/read. I'm glad you liked the chapter and thanks for reviewing. hugs, SHaria
Author's Response: I agree. Harry has been through a rough spell but things will get better. Hang in there and thanks for the review karee. SHaria
Just a bit of information: I can't tell from your chapter notes if you intended this, but it sounds like you think "Skulkin" is a name. "Skulkin" is not a name, it's a contraction of "skulking", participle of "to skulk". It's a verb that means moving stealthily, furtively, sneakily. "Skulkin Bar" is still a good name for a Knockturn Alley bar, though, it's pretty funny! Author's Response: Hi Anonymus, I'm glad you are enjoying the story! As for skulkin, from the way Hagrid used the word, it sure seemed like a verb to me too, but I took the verb and turned it into a name- author's perogative I guess. My husband is always making up words (so did Shakespere). My favorite one (of my hubby's) is figitate- a combination of hesitate and figit. Thanks for reviewing! SHaria
I'm glad that Severus has suffered no lasting ill effects from this tragedy. In fact, he seems to have found something to cling to that makes his life a little bit better. Author's Response: Hi Silverstargirl, Your comment of whether or not it would be better if Anthony had died, rather than live the remainder of his life a shell of what he had been, is exactly one ot the points I whiched to present in this chapter. I tend to do this throuhout the story, and find that mort readers miss these messages, seeing only the story. In this chapter for instance we have: The ongoing issue of whether or not a person should be kept alive if they are in a permanent coma or have suffered severe brain injuries. Some people believe that yes, they have the right to live and others believe it more merciful to end that person's life. I don't have the answer, I merely raise the point. Another issue is the power of love. In this case, its opposite effects on both Severus and Voldemort, saving and nurturing one while acting as a weapon against the other. Additionally, Harry (who's character in the HP series is the symbol of all three loves: Agape, Eros and Philia), doesn't even consider the fact that he just knocked down the evil Dark Lord but can only think of his injured friend. As we all know, life isn't easy; we learn from the challenges we face. I know this was a difficult chapter, but Harry is a strong individual supported by many who love him, and this seed of love that was planted in Severus's heart will blossom. Hang in there and thanks for sharing your thoughts. SHaria
Author's Response: I know and I'm sorry. He won't die, I promise. SHaria |
