Reviews For Eclipse of the Soul, the Sevitus version
Author's Response: Well thank you DS, I think. To each his/her own. I'm actually trying to go for a realistic approach (as far as that can be applied to a piece of fanfic which in turn is based upon a fictional world of magic). Aside from Severus and Harry developing a platonic relationship, I do try to follow canon but I also reserve the right to embellish upon JKR's groundwork. (But isn't that what HP fanfic is all about?) Thanks for sharing your impressions and I hope you give the story a chance. SHaria
Author's Response: Don't give up the ship, alifromnm! Wait and see what happens. Hugs, SHaria
Author's Response: Thanks KimSpiritTalks. Yes, I love that scene with Dumbledore and Harry and then the scene in this chapter with Helena. Sorry for the cliffy, everything will work out okay. I'll update as soon as I can. Hugs, SHaria
Author's Response: You are absolutely correct silverstargirl. Well, Crabbe and Goyle never were the smartest cookies in the jar. It's always easier to place blame elsewhere and I could see Greg chosing to blame Harry (who is the bad guy in their point of view) rather than thinking negatively of his own father. Greg is just being myopic and Vince is supporting his buddy. You are also correct that Harry should have reported the incident, but as we have seen time and time again in canon; Harry is always trying to handle things himself. Perhaps because he never really had an adult he could go to for guidance when he was young. But don't worry, everything happens for a reason. Hang in there. Hugs, SHaria
Uh oh, I wonder what Crabbe and Goyle have in plan for Harry. I hope he won't let it get too bad before he tells someone though it seems to be his character to not tell anyone until he has to. Now, that they're back at Hogwarts, I can't wait to see how all the additional people are going to factor in and how things are going to go. Good chapter, and I can't wait for more. Author's Response: Thanks for the lovely long review EllaEleniel. Just you wait, there's more to come. SHaria
Author's Response: Thanks for the review autumnamberleaves. I agree, it is no small thing. I'll get it posted as soon as I can. Hugs, SHaria
Great chapter, please update soon :) Author's Response: I'm glad you liked the chapters and thanks for reviewing! Ch 6 will probably be up Monday. SHaria
I'm glad Dumbledore is finally admitting all his mistakes regarding Harry. Great Chapter :) Author's Response: Yes, a sad chapter. I always felt that an apology from Dumbledore was certainly called for. Thanks for reviewing! Hugs, SHaria
I'd love it if you included more details about the counseling sessions. I know it says he had them for two weeks, but it seems so quick when the last chapter brought up the counseling and now they're already starting to work in this chapter. Although, I can understand as it may be somewhat personal for you. I'm excited to see what happens once Harry gets to Hogwarts. You mentioned in your reply that Severus has his own journey of depression to overcome and I'm really curious to see how their commonality with depression factors into whatever kind of relationship you have in mind for them. I also liked the Voldemort in Japan bit. It was cool to see him abroad somewhere and doing something other than torturing people or ordering Death Eaters around. I can't wait to read more. Great job! Author's Response: Hi EllaEleniel, thank you for the lovely long review. Yes well, one chapter for the counceling. Perhaps it seemed short, but what Harry had to do was just talk, relay, verbalize all those things that caused him emotional injury. They all add up and they all need to be addressed, but we've read his history: the childhood abuse and the trauma he encountered after arriving at Hogwarts. We know what happened. I didn't want to repeat all of that. He'll still have his insecurities and Helena will still be around to help him. As for Severus, yes he had emotional turmoil in his younger life (as I said before, there had to be some reason for his bitterness). But that is just it- where as Harry fell into a depression, Severus closed himself off- emotionally (in order to protect himself). And he's been this way for a long time. It's going to take longer to work through. I view the event of an eclipse as a symbol of Harry's depression and Severus' emotional apathy. That's how it felt for me when I was depressed, very much as I described it in chapters 2 and 4, but Harry is on his way back and Sev will get there later. It may have seemed kind of quick, but this story is already 33 chapters long and I haven't finished yet. Don't worry, there's plenty coming. Hugs, SHaria
Author's Response: Thanks Kim, I agree. RL is hard enough, so I am a firm believer in happy endings. I'm so glad you enjoyed the chapter. SHaria |
