Ooooooh! That was good! My absolute favorite line is the one near the end, where Harry realizes:

"I might not have thought myself better than everyone else but I did think that my point of view was right and anyone who stopped me doing what I wanted was wrong."

That is SO-O-O perfect to describe canon!Harry!! It's exactly the thing about his character that just set my teeth on edge, and has me agreeing with Snape's assessment of him. I haven't seen it described quite so perfectly before! =]

Author's Response: Thanks ^^. I think this is probably Harry's greatest character flaws (not that one can blame him too much- it's a common childhood trait) and I'm really flattered and pleased that you think I described it well. Harry coming to this realisation, I think, is essential for him to mature and, thereby, see Snape as he is, a flawed man who tried his best under exceptionally difficult circumstances. Thanks for the review

    Loved this. :)

A great way to get the more dangerous Hallows out of the reach of greedy mortals, and a wonderful way to reward Severus (even if he wouldn't see it that way at first), and to have Harry mature and come to see that Severus was more than just the "greasy git".

And I thought the scene where Lily told Severus to live and do the things they'd dreamed of doing was just wonderful.

    Thanks for sharing! Well done!

Author's Response: Thanks ^^. I've always thought that, had Severus survived the final battle, he would have been likely to at least try to take his own life and it seemed a good premise for a story. I'm glad you liked my method for disposing of the Hallows and Harry's development. Thanks for the review

This was absolutely wonderful and it tied up so many loose ends that JKR left hanging. Bravi, bravi, bravissimi!

Author's Response: Thanks for the review: I'm really glad that you enjoyed it ^^

Oh wow! That was beautiful and so sad, for all that it had a happy ending.

You write description so well. I particularly loved this:

His hair is drawn across his face like a veil, Snape slouches in the chair; an incongruously small bundle of fusty black. One long, pale hand grasps a crystal goblet, in which lurks a smoking violet liquid.

I get such a vivid picture of the scene in my head.

I find the whole Severus/Lily plotline heartbreaking anyway, but the way you wrote it even more so.

    Author's Response:

Thanks for the review. I'm really glad you enjoyed the one-shot: I tried to give it an upbeat ending but I didn't want to insult Severus' suffering by giving him a Disney-style 'happy ever after', which does mean that it's sad overall but, as long as my readers think it's beautiful and sad, rather than down right depressing, I think I've achieved what I've set out to do.

I'm glad you enjoyed my descriptions; I tried to pack a lot into the visual portrayal of Severus, in order to create a type of dramatic irony (i.e. the reader notices how evocative the 'dark veil' is of death and mourning but Harry doesn't consciously).

I'm glad that Harry was able to help Severus find a new lease on life. I hope that he will find happiness once again.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review. I think that Severus has passed his darkest hour and that, even if he will never fully recover from Lily's death, his life will improve way beyond his wildest dreams.

That is how it should have been, the ending to DH. Thanks for sharing this with us.

A marvellous story! Thank you. It's so refreshing to see a new possibility for Snape's survival. I adore the idea of him tangoing in Alexandria.
As to Terry Pratchett's death character, since reading the Harry Potter book I have wondered if Binky is a Hogwarts thestral - I can imagine Hagrid naming a thestral Binky. :)

    Author's Response:

Thanks ^^ I'm really glad you enjoyed it. This story was an attempt to examine the 'what if' scenario of Snape living beyond the final battle. It's pretty likely, given what we know of Snape, that, duty fulfilled, he probably would have attempted suicide. Of course, as Harry owes him a life debt and is Master of the Hallows, this gives an ideal opportunity to have Harry save him. Of course, Severus will never forget Lily but, with a new life, new friends and new interests, he can build a life worth living. I'm glad you liked the ending; I thought dancing was an obvious choice for a hobby and what dance is more apt for controlled, passionate Severus than the tango?
