Reviews For Witches Promise
I'd loved it more if it was a LOT longer (50-60 chapters longer) but you wrote a really nice story here! and I love little Lilly and Severus Author's Response: I don't think this story could be sustained for that many chapters, but I do understand what you mean. Thanks for the review. T
Author's Response: Thanks for the kind words. Snape is oddly easy for me to write, it's Harry that gives me fits. I don't know why. (Possibly because the entire idea of Harry growing up and having (sex) is just too odd for me to contemplate. Thanks again. T
Author's Response: Thanks. It was your challenge that started it, so thank you. T
Author's Response: That bit of dialogue by Bette came out of nowhere. I don't even know what I was thinking, but it makes me laugh too. Thanks for the kind words. I tried to avoid the run of the mill Snape/Harry traps and imagine their meeting in a new context. I don't think Snape's public image would change that much, but his interior after the war, would undergo a revolution. Bette and Lily were the two responsible for his awakening, and Harry was responsible for his healing. It takes an odd-little wizarding village to raise a Snape. T
Author's Response: Aw, I love that about Snape, his bad attitude and self-flagellation. It makes him so fun to write and then get him out of it. Thanks for the review. T
Author's Response: Thanks. I really appreciate the review and the kind thoughts. T
-P.G. Author's Response: Thanks! I can't tell you how happy that makes me. I am still bowing to the master for your Seuss story. That is the funniest thing on several sites.(Snape. Cape. Snape in cape. Cape on Snape... The best!)

Bette is a great character, well rounded and, in personality, very suited to Severus. I loved Severus' emotional journey with Bette; the dramatic irony, where the reader realises that he has fallen in love with her but Severus, in denial, thinks he's still in love with Lily is delicious. Severus' relationship with the children was very sweetly and believably portrayed and I loved their roles, with James, ironically, being Severus' protector and little Lily giving him the unconditional affection denied to him by Lily Evans. Finally, I loved your portrayal of Eileen as a fairy-like figure, it really enhanced the tragedy of Severus' early life and formed a sharp contrast to Severus and Harry's happy relationships. Gorgeous story, well done ^^. Author's Response: Wow. This is about the best review I've ever received. Thank you so much. Bette had to be a warm person to counteract Severus' cool isolation. I'm glad you picked up that he was in love with her, even while thinking he was still devoted to Lily. Poor guy. He just didn't know what hit him. I do get tired of James Sirius being portrayed as a clone of the grandfather. He's half Weasley, and Harry would never let him bully anyone. Lily's infantile acceptance of him helped assuage years of abuse heaped on him by himself and others. Infants can bring out the best in people simply because of their innocence. I've portrayed Eilleen different ways in several stories, but this portrayal comes closest to the woman I have in my mind. Thanks for the lovely review. I'm anxiously awaiting your story. T |
