Reviews For The White Laird of the Mountains
Author's Response: Thanks for the review. I know- I think we'll just have to rely on Harry, Severus and Aberforth's influence lol! Also, Hagrid probably wouldn't give Harry anything that would hurt Hedwig.
Author's Response: Thanks ^^ I love writing Aberforth; he's like Albus is some ways, i.e. he's brave, warmhearted and noble, but totally unlike him in others, e.g. the man's gruffer than a goat, cynical and painfully honest.
It was interesting to see Aberforth thrown into the mix, and the way you wrote his interaction with Snape, one would think they're... friends? Good chapter. Author's Response: Thanks for the review. In the storyline, Severus (or, rather, I) needed a fast solution and, as Harry views McGonagall as more of a Great-Aunt figure, Albus has proved himself untrustworthy (in Snape's eyes) and Severus hasn't yet been able to repair his relationship with Harry (and, indeed, doesn't know whether it's possible) the candidates are reduced to four: Sirius, Hagrid, the Weasleys and Remus. Now, casting aside Severus' opinions of Black (who is, in some ways, even less mature and more dangerous than Hagrid (considering his daredevil attitude), Sirius is a man on the run and, therefore, would be hard pressed to create a secure location. Remus is a werewolf, nuff said, and the Weasleys, while being good parents, are not really able to provide an appropriate level of security and, besides, Ron is at varience with Harry. Hagrid, on the other hand, lives in Hogwarts (and could take a suite inside the castle during the holidays), is very strong, has a natural defence against curses and, most importantly, he loves Harry and Harry loves him. As for Aberforth and Severus, I've always thought that the two astute, no-nonsence men would probably have a grudging respect, if not a positive friendship, and I can see Severus letting off steam about his students (and employer) to Aberforth's sympathetic ear (after all, as a DE, he has to stay in character ;).
Author's Response: Thanks :) The Severus/Hagrid connection was one of the reasons why I thought that the adoption would work; in the canon, Hagrid seems to respect Severus and, I imagine, would listen to the astute, clever man's advice. Combined with Aberforth's no-nonsence attitude and, as you say, the fact that Harry has a good head on his shoulders, Hagrid's mistakes will probably be minimal and, most importantly, he'll give Harry the all encompassing love and support he needs to flourish.
Author's Response: Thanks ^^. I adore Hagrid too and I though that, seeing that this story is rather gritty, a little fluff wouldn't go amiss. Besides, Hagrid and Severus would make a good team; Hagrid resects Severus and would (probably) take his advice on which creatures consitute sensible pets lol!
Author's Response: Thanks ^^ I'm glad you're enjoying the story.
Author's Response: Thanks ^^. Hagrid's such an affectionate, tactile character, I just had to take advantage of that :)
I'm dying to see Albus' reaction to all this. Author's Response: Thanks ^^. Severus is a character who can think quickly in an emergency and, considering all the facts (including Harry's happiness), powerful, kindly Hagrid, who lives on Hogwarts grounds, is, I think, the most appropriate choice. Albus' reaction, however, probably won't come as much of a surprise. |
