Reviews For The White Laird of the Mountains
Delightful story - I really enjoyed it! Thanks so much for sharing. ^^ Author's Response: Thanks for all your lovely reviews. I'm really glad that you enjoyed it
My only complaint is the chapter titles. Some of them look like Latin, some like... Gaelic? I get it, sometimes another language is more interesting/expressive/whatever, but unless your readers know the said language, it communicates nothing. Yeah, I know I'm being incredibly fussy about it. Can't help it. Sorry. :P All in all, this was a fantastically well-written story with an interesting plotline, dynamics between the characters, and some nice twists along the way. Wonderfully done. I enjoyed every second of it! Author's Response: Lol! The titles contain their own joke: the first seven chapters spell out S.E.V.E.R.U.S and, as Severus is a Latin name, they're all famous Latin Mottos, each referring to the theme of the chapter. Harry, on the other hand, is a Saxon name, so the next five chapters spell out H.A.R.R.Y in Anglo Saxon phrases, again, each referring to the prevalent theme of the chapter. I could write out some translations if that would help but, really, all one needs to do is a quick internet search ^^
Oh and, on an almost relevant note, I was delighted that Harry took Ginny rather than Cho, or Hermione, to the Ball! So nice. :D Author's Response: I wanted to make Myrridin a bit of a riddler (like the oldest version of character Merlin) so his speech is sometimes enigmatic. I tried to compensate by Harry 'translating' but if it was a bit vague, sorry.
Author's Response: Thanks ^^
Author's Response: Thanks for the review; yes, that warning (or, rather, the lack of it) was a bit of a givaway lol!
Good chapter. Author's Response: The rationale is that, if Moody is unmasked, Voldemort will either flee or attack and, either way, Ron's survival is unlikely. In hostage situations, it's best to maintain the status quo because panic often leads to violence.
Author's Response: Thanks ^^ I'm really glad Harry came across that way.
"The two ex-adversaries stared at each other, feeling rather like manticores trying to converse using a book of etiquette written by centaurs." Just brilliant! Author's Response: Thanks. Glad you're enjoying it :)
Author's Response: I agree; I love historical fiction, which is why, in my own work, I tend to include 'flashbacks' where I can; it anchors the ficitonal events in reality and gives an additional semblance of reality. If you enjoy historical (or, rather, mock-historical) fiction, you might enjoy 'When the Boat Comes In' and 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Pegasus', other stories which strongly draw upon a semi-invented past. I'm really glad that you enjoyed this chapter and thanks for the review.
Author's Response: Thanks. The Trophy Room is on the same floor as the Defence Professor's office ;) |
