Oh, nice ending. Surprising, to put it mildly, but nice nonetheless. Planting the tree was a very touching scene for some reason.

My only complaint is the chapter titles. Some of them look like Latin, some like... Gaelic? I get it, sometimes another language is more interesting/expressive/whatever, but unless your readers know the said language, it communicates nothing. Yeah, I know I'm being incredibly fussy about it. Can't help it. Sorry. :P

All in all, this was a fantastically well-written story with an interesting plotline, dynamics between the characters, and some nice twists along the way. Wonderfully done. I enjoyed every second of it!

    Author's Response:

Lol! The titles contain their own joke: the first seven chapters spell out S.E.V.E.R.U.S and, as Severus is a Latin name, they're all famous Latin Mottos, each referring to the theme of the chapter. Harry, on the other hand, is a Saxon name, so the next five chapters spell out H.A.R.R.Y in Anglo Saxon phrases, again, each referring to the prevalent theme of the chapter. I could write out some translations if that would help but, really, all one needs to do is a quick internet search ^^

I'm glad you enjoyed the story ^^, I wanted the planting of the Rowan to be a touching scene so I'm glad it came across as such. The Rowan is called the Lady of the Mountains and, therefore, it seemed very fitting to end the story with the leitmotif.

You lost me there a bit, when Harry and Myrridin were discussing the 'plan' but it sort of made sense by the end. Can't wait to see how everything turns out.

Oh and, on an almost relevant note, I was delighted that Harry took Ginny rather than Cho, or Hermione, to the Ball! So nice. :D

    Author's Response:

I wanted to make Myrridin a bit of a riddler (like the oldest version of character Merlin) so his speech is sometimes enigmatic. I tried to compensate by Harry 'translating' but if it was a bit vague, sorry.

I thought Harry should really take Ginny to the ball; while I don't follow the 'ship' for any particular pair of characters, Ginny is definately the girl most likely to understand if Harry has to flee.

Lots of things happening. I like that, though I hope no one will have to die. *goes to check out story warnings* *sighs in relief*

Author's Response: Thanks for the review; yes, that warning (or, rather, the lack of it) was a bit of a givaway lol!

Why's Moody allowed to teach if they know he's the impostor? Eh, never mind. At first I was a bit sceptical of Harry just slipping into Ron's mind like that, but then, he's always been one to act first and think afterwards, yeah?

    Good chapter.

Author's Response: The rationale is that, if Moody is unmasked, Voldemort will either flee or attack and, either way, Ron's survival is unlikely. In hostage situations, it's best to maintain the status quo because panic often leads to violence.

I like your portrayal of Harry in this chapter: somewhere between a little scared kid and a teenager who understands what he's done and takes responsibility for it. Nicely done.

Author's Response: Thanks ^^ I'm really glad Harry came across that way.

Lovely. You have quite a talent with words, as well. So many great lines! My favorite for this chapter has to be:

"The two ex-adversaries stared at each other, feeling rather like manticores trying to converse using a book of etiquette written by centaurs."

    Just brilliant!

Author's Response: Thanks. Glad you're enjoying it :)

One of my most favorite things in the world to read is historical fiction. History itself has a certain... sanctity to it, in my mind (if that makes any sense). Loved this chapter - it is very plausible. I can't wait to see where you went with the rest of the story.

    Author's Response:

I agree; I love historical fiction, which is why, in my own work, I tend to include 'flashbacks' where I can; it anchors the ficitonal events in reality and gives an additional semblance of reality. If you enjoy historical (or, rather, mock-historical) fiction, you might enjoy 'When the Boat Comes In' and 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Pegasus', other stories which strongly draw upon a semi-invented past.

I'm really glad that you enjoyed this chapter and thanks for the review.

So, the note wasn't from Skeeter after all? Nice twist. I'm intrigued.

Author's Response: Thanks. The Trophy Room is on the same floor as the Defence Professor's office ;)
