Reviews For Faded
Lovely fic Author's Response: Thanks. Harry's kids are at home; Severus is emotionally fragile and little Lily- who looks so much like his friend- would probably upset and confuse him
Author's Response: Thanks ^^ I'm glad you enjoyed it ^^
Good luck with your YouTube project! It sounds like fun. :) Very, very well done! Author's Response: Thanks: I really tried to get my portrayal of Alzheimer's as accurate as possible so I'm glad to know I managed it. I actually drew upon my experences of a different affliction, MS, which, while mainly affecting the body, can lead to extreme frustration and anguish for the sufferer if they can't, for example, pronounce their words clearly enough to be understood.
Author's Response: Thanks for the review; I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother :(
Author's Response: Thanks ^^
Author's Response: Thanks ^^ I'm really glad you liked it :)
In other words, write more! Lol. But this was lovely. Author's Response: Thanks. I did have half a mind to introduce a couple of flashback scenes but, when I tried it, I thought it ruined the atmosphere of the piece. However, I am considering writing a prequel someday but, for now, the little mysteries will have to remain (however, 'joining the dots' is half the fun in being a reader lol!)
Author's Response: Thanks. Flowers For Algernon is especially sad and the title implies that Severus did attempt to find a cure for the disease and, tragically, ran out of time. (I might write a prequel someday, though it'll be a bit of a tearjerker so I'm going to need a bit of a run up for that!) It's really sad how many elderly and disabled people are all but abandoned by their families; yes, looking after someone or even visiting frequently can be difficult and upsetting but, if you can make that person's life just a little easier, it's worth it. I always say that high-days and holidays don't matter, it's the little things, which you do for someone on a day to day basis, which matter.
At least he has Harry to take care of him. I loved Albus; he was great! Author's Response: Thanks. Yes, I agree; in some ways, Severus is happier, in that, when he's feeling secure, he has moments of childlike bliss, whereas the younger Severus was always haunted by guilt and unpleasant reccollections. I'm glad you liked Albus; I based him on my own parrot who varies between being the most aggressive, rude and spiteful little bugger imaginable and the sweetest most empathetic and gentle bird you could hope to meet lol! (I think a parrot would be a great pet for Snape; he'd secretly enjoy the backchat and be absolutely gleeful when the 'ignorant' creature swore at or otherwise insulted people he didn't like but for whom he had to outwardly show respect)
Author's Response: Thanks ^^. I've had this idea on my mind for a few days; being a devoted caregiver is very 'Harry' and, considering what he had endured during his life as a spy, Severus seems a prime canditate for dementia. While there are a number of 'reverse' stories out there, with a helpless Severus relying on Harry, usually they are deaging or physical illness fics: very few (none which I've read) actually deal with Severus actually entering a 'second childhood', where the elderly man loses his memory and most of his mental faculties into the bargain. (Probably because it *is* very sad.) However, I thought it needed to be written and I hope I managed to add enough humour and fluff to take the edge off the tragedy, without trivalising it. |
