Reviews For A Midwinter Night's Whimsy
Author's Response: Wonderful to hear! I had soooo much fun writing this, but it's always music to my ears to learn that my readers enjoyed Harry's adventure! And Snape's pranks!!! Thanks for reading and reviewing! 😊
Author's Response: So glad you enjoyed this! It was an absolute blast to write, and I finally got to use my childhood experience of being tumbled around on the bottom of the ocean (and the terror of nearly drowning) in a story! In my case, no shark figured into it, but the sheer power of huge waves rushing onto shore... Egad! That always stuck with me. Many thanks for reading and reviewing! 😊
Author's Response: Writers have various influences, and I've wondered if Star Trek:The Next Generation's holodeck might have been an inspiration for the Room of Requirement. Even if JKR didn't use the Room quite as extensively as I did, I'll freely admit to being influenced by the seemingly endless possibilities of the holodeck when I wrote this version of the Room! The bit that came from real life, however, was my description of coming close to drowning in the incoming tide surf at Assateague Beach (Virginia USA) when I was barely eleven. That experience... Well, I survived -- literally crawling out of the water on my hands and knees -- and I always wanted to use those details in a story somehow. Voila! Thanks so much for reading and reviewing! 🏊
Author's Response: I love the Room of Requirement! The possibilities are endless. I'll admit, I took the Room on an unexpected journey, but I'm pleased that you liked the story. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
Author's Response: I can't upload stories to save my life, so a P&S admin does it for me after I email the story to the site. The problem is, if P&S posts the story for me, I can't access it myself once it's online to edit anything. Arg!!! I try so hard to get things perfect BEFORE emailing, coz I know I'll never get another chance to fix it, and even so, I still miss things. And the Filch/Pomfrey situation was a subplot that backfired in a major way. I never realized it until a reader kindly pointed it out to me. Sigh. But I'm glad you seemed to like the rest of the story. Thanks for reading and reviewing despite the error on my part! 😊
Author's Response: Oh, yes! You're the second person to point out that my plot device involving Madam Pomfrey backfired! Sorry!!! It seems that if I can upload the story from my end (aka: library computer), I can also access the story to edit it once it's on the site. However, if the admins have to upload it for me, as was the case with Whimsy (and 5 other of my stories), I can't do anything with it once it's on P&S. :-( I try so hard to get everything just RIGHT, because I KNOW I'll be STUCK with it once it's been posted, but I completely overlooked the bit with Madam Pomfrey-- I'm GUILTY!!! ;-D Believe me, I feel like twelve times an idiot!!! But, in the end, I've decided to pretend that Pomfrey just came back to school early. It keeps me from stressing out! Hee! Thanks AGAIN for reading and reviewing! Just out of curiosity, where are you from/located? I clicked your bio (like to learn about my readers!), but there was no additional info. Just wondering! If you want to reply, you can click to review Whimsy again!
Author's Response: Many thanks! It was terrific fun pushing the envelope in this story! Oh, if only I had access to a Room of Requirement... I could USE a beach today! Minus the shark, of course! Thanks so much for taking the time to review! |
