Reviews For Common Interests
Harry is holding up well. Severus and Skull will be furious when he hears of what Marlene has done to their boy. Stay strong, Harry, stay strong! Author's Response: Yes, it's in the next few chapters. Thanks so much for saying that! Since I got another review over on ff.net where the person complained that it was taking too long to get Harry rescued and it was boring. In my opinion, when you have a person get kidnapped or captured by the enemy in a story, it's because you want certain things to happen to the characters which makes them grow or change or develop new abilties, ect . . .You also want to pue challenges in the path of your protaganists, and having Harry kidnapped and rescued within two chapters is pointless. Then there's no tension, no room for the character to experience anything except maybe a few minutes of fear, and unless the bad guys were planning to execute him, no challenges to overcome. In real life people go missing for weeks, months, and years. Sometimes you never find them. Or when you do find them, they're forever changed by the experience . . . or worse, they're dead. And while I won't kill off Harry here, I do want him to learn from the experience, and develop certain aspects of his magic and that resilience to bad things happening. I also want to show that not only Severus, but other students and teachers also care for Harry, and that sometimes, the good guys don't always have all the answers at once, and a good rescue attempt takes time, planning, and patience and it's not always as easy as cast a Locator Charm and here he is! Some kidnappers are stupid like that, but Marlene isn't. And Sev's not Superman, he has limitations too. So it's not going to be just Severus alone who rescues Harry, but Severus working together with Lena, Irma, Skull . . .ect and even the book and Harry will all play their parts. Harry's not a damsel in distress, he's going to try his hardest to save himself and not just sit there on his bum waiting for Severus to bust through the door and blow away Marlene. And right now he's being very clever and Slytherin like. Sev ought to be proud!
Looking forward, as usual, to your next update. Thanks for sharing! V. Author's Response: it could if Harry was studying it all on his own, but the book will help him learn faster. Thanks for reviewing!
Author's Response: Yes, it sort of is. Lily was influenced by Marlene to reject Severus. You mean, you fear Marlene will hurt Harry more than she already has? Like maybe altering his memories too?
I really liked the part about the book and how Harry can talk to it. Harry's letter to himself was an excellent way to keep his morale up too. Smart boy:) I look foward to the next update:) |
