Great chapter. LOL Dumbles is so manipulative, isn't he? but, I guess in this situation it works out for the best.

Ginny is very perceptive, and much more understanding sometimes than Ron or Hermione. Perhaps you could let Harry talk to her - she could help him talk through his feelings after Snape offers Christmas? Help him accept?
As for conflict, Harry is a boy who's never had any real parental figures in his life. Surely soon he'll start to feel smothered - Snape could ban him from something, Harry could explode (as he does) over this new overprotectiveness. He has always been looking out for himself, and I imagine it would be hard to adjust.

Awww, you go, Snape! Poor, poor Harry. Hopefully now he'll get some much needed sleep and help.
And the plot thickens.
I'm enjoying this story very much so far, but the head hopping, where you switch POVs mid-scene are very distracting. You might wanna look narrative voice and consider that aspect.
But technicalities aside, I'm loving this storyline. Can't wait to see what Snape is going to do about this poor boy's insomnia!

I hope they can continue to bond without any big blow ups between them. Ron is a blow up waiting to happen, as is Hermoine, what with Harry's improving grades. But I'd love to see both Harry and Snape continue to support each other. It seems that the two always end up at odds with each other in stories where Snape mentors Harry. These two guys are always so loyal when they give friendship while others--Ron & Hermione in Harry's case, and Lily in Snape's case just disregard the friendship when it suits them. Hermione in book 6 became unreasonable when Harry's potions grade improved, and we all know what Ron did in 4th year. Then Lily wouldn't even accept an apology for one mean word from Snape while he was being humiliated. Anyhow, that's what I'd love to see in this story: stanch support no matter what. :) but I'm enjoying it very much.
Brilliant chapter. I am looking forward to reading about Christmas however it pans out. A possible area for conflict could be the missed Quidditch - not immediately but maybe if Harry is replaced on the team then Severus may fear Harry becoming a social outcast like Severus was as a student and he will need to say something and therefore confront Harry about his avoidance of Ron and his other friends.
Awww, poor Harry. I feel so bad for the poor kid. Sleep is important for anybody, but especially for a growing teenage boy.
I cringed when Snape woke him up in Potions. How humiliating, and besides that, frightening.
Can't wait to see where this goes!
