Reviews For Ugly Duckling
Author's Response: Thanks ^^ Yes, Ugly Duckling was always intended to be a sad story, it had to be because I wanted to write a fic where Harry and Animagus!Snape would grow to care for each other but Harry would never find out (at least in Snape's lifetime) who his friend actually was.
Author's Response: Thank you, that's a beautiful description of what I was trying to create ^^
x Author's Response: Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it ^^. Yes, Snape was very human in this fic: as aloof as he tried to be, he couldn't resist a pair of huge, sad, green eyes in a thin, grubby little face. I think quite a lot of people would have preferred a happier ending but, like in the 'Making Amends' series, I really wanted to add another dimention to the canon rather than write something totally AU. (Besides, most fairytails originally ended in tears, mainly because tragedy is a great foil for fluff!)
Author's Response: Thanks for the review; yes, I thought a swan suited Severus particularly because they're one of the birds who mate for life (which led to the 'pure of heart' concept) and the unusual, slightly otherworldly beauty of the black swan seemed particularly appropriate. I'm glad you liked the idea of a swan court; I thought it apt to include one as swan courts feature in so many legends and, moreover, it's nice to think that Severus had a family of a kind amonst the other swan-animaguses.
Author's Response: Thanks ^^; I think part of the beauty of Snape's canon story is that he is so understood until it is too late, which is why I wanted to preserve this here. I'm really glad you enjoyed it :)

Author's Response: Thanks ^^. In this story, Snape still died at Voldemorts hand in the Shrieking Shack and he still gave Harry his memories (although one of them, where Snape discovered Harry was a horcrux, was slightly different); therefore, Harry saw that Snape loved Lily. However, Snape held back his memories of being Shadow because he didn't wish to discompose Harry before the final hurdle; he was already spinning the boy's world on it's access and realising that the man he'd just watched die was a. his childhood friend and b. always cared about him would have seriously messed Harry up!
Author's Response: Thanks: I'm glad you enjoyed it despite the sad ending. What I wanted to do was simply add a chapter (or two) to the canon; the battle of Hogwarts still happened, Snape still died but, in this fic, there was more to his relationship with Harry than met the eye.
Author's Response: Sorry, I didn't think it needed an additional 'Character Death' warning as a. the story is just following the canon and b. I did mark this as a 'Tragedy' (which does rather suggest that there won't be a happy ending). Moreover, the moderator who uploaded this story didn't add the warning, perhaps because they also felt it was unneccesary. It's a bit disappointing to receive a review like this; I don't mind constructive critizism but to curtly complain about a trivial detail is a bit rude, don't you think? I would certainly never behave this way to a fellow author.
