Reviews For Ugly Duckling
Author's Response: Thanks ^^ I know, I've been really lax recently but I am working on both 'Inverted' and 'Pegasus' (plus a number of new stories) but it's taking it's time lol!
Author's Response: Thanks ^^: given Severus' status as an outcast, I rather wanted him to have a friend and Poseihudor seemed an appropriate choice of confident; it's not difficult to see how Severus would have met the Swan Lord or why they'd have become friends- the only explanation needed was why he's choose a foreign executor lol!) Glad you liked the memory; I was a bit worried about being too hard on Dumbledore but, then again, we've seen him make similar decisions.
Well done Morgana. Truly beautifully written. Swan song indeed. RIP Severus Snape. Author's Response: I'm really glad you enjoyed it and thank you for the kind compliments ^^ Yes, 'Swansong' was just begging to be used as a title for this piece; Severus had been, in effect, gagged but, once death allowed him to voice his feelings, his was the sweetest and most poignant 'song' of all (in my opinion ;)
It was excellent. Zabby Author's Response: Thanks: quite honestly, I thought about stopping on chapter 1 too but then I realised that would leave too many questions unanswered (like why Severus simply left Harry and why he pretended to hate him) so I wrote the second, more tragic part of the story. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Author's Response: Thank you ^^ I'm glad you liked it
This was a beautiful piece. I'm glad you shared it. Author's Response: Thanks ^^. Yes, Severus did deserve better but I think the tragic element suits this tale, which has a 'fairytale' element to it (and the old fairytales weren't always 'happily ever after'.) I'm glad you found the story beautiful, though.
That was amazing Morgana! Absolutely beautiful! I loved the book 'Snape' gave Harry and the connection it drew to snape and LIly. I will admit...I was hoping Von Poseihudor would be SNape. But at the same time I knew he simpily couldn't be. *Sighs* Odd right? lol Wonderfully beautiful, Gana! Author's Response: Thanks ^^ I thought that the book was a very 'Snape' touch; I can imagine him being an artist and, although I'm not quite sure why, I think he'd be a fan of fairytales (perhaps because his best friend was a girl; princesses and knights' is a popular game for mixed-gender groups of kids lol!) Anyhow, I thought it would be appropriate gift for a child as well as carrying a hidden meaning which would only become clear when Harry was 'in the know' (i.e. that Snape was Amroth and that, although he couldn't declare so at the time, he had attempted to say a proper goodbye to Harry.) I can see Severus admiring Von Poseihudor (whose surname means 'waterlord'), which is why he copied some of his features while posing as Amroth. However, I did want this story to be more of an elaboration on the canon rather than wholly AU, so Severus had to die as he did in DH. However, he did let Harry know that his Shadow never ceased to look out for him or stopped loving him.
Author's Response: Thanks ^^ I'm glad you enjoyed it, despite the tragedy
Author's Response: Thanks ^^; I'm glad you liked it, despite the sad ending.
Author's Response: Thanks for the review. While there are a couple of 'alternate universe' events in this story, Harry's life, overall, is supposed to be canon, thus Snape and Dumbledore die as they do in HBP/DH. I did this because I felt that, had Harry been given a 'happy ever after', the story wouldn't have the gritty edge Bil seems to enjoy. Also, I feel that this way, the 'might have beens' make the fluff poignant rather than soppy. |
