Reviews For Ugly Duckling
Author's Response: Thanks ^^. Yes, Amroth Nimrod is certainly more than he seems ;)
That was amazing Morgana! Absolutely beautiful! I loved the book 'Snape' gave Harry and the connection it drew to snape and LIly. I will admit...I was hoping Von Poseihudor would be SNape. But at the same time I knew he simpily couldn't be. *Sighs* Odd right? lol Wonderfully beautiful, Gana! Author's Response: Thanks ^^ I thought that the book was a very 'Snape' touch; I can imagine him being an artist and, although I'm not quite sure why, I think he'd be a fan of fairytales (perhaps because his best friend was a girl; princesses and knights' is a popular game for mixed-gender groups of kids lol!) Anyhow, I thought it would be appropriate gift for a child as well as carrying a hidden meaning which would only become clear when Harry was 'in the know' (i.e. that Snape was Amroth and that, although he couldn't declare so at the time, he had attempted to say a proper goodbye to Harry.) I can see Severus admiring Von Poseihudor (whose surname means 'waterlord'), which is why he copied some of his features while posing as Amroth. However, I did want this story to be more of an elaboration on the canon rather than wholly AU, so Severus had to die as he did in DH. However, he did let Harry know that his Shadow never ceased to look out for him or stopped loving him.
Author's Response: Thanks ^^ I'm glad you enjoyed it, despite the tragedy
Author's Response: Thanks ^^; I'm glad you liked it, despite the sad ending.
I bet 100 house pionts that shadow is really Snapes Animagnus form! Author's Response: Thank's for the review. Yes, black swans are really cute; we have a really friendly pair here and, whenever I walk past the estuary, they waddle up to see me, squeaking happily and swishing their black tails ^^. Why on earth would you think that elegant, poised Shadow, with his oily black feathers and intelligent, penetrating, dark eyes is Snape?!
Author's Response: Thanks for the review. While there are a couple of 'alternate universe' events in this story, Harry's life, overall, is supposed to be canon, thus Snape and Dumbledore die as they do in HBP/DH. I did this because I felt that, had Harry been given a 'happy ever after', the story wouldn't have the gritty edge Bil seems to enjoy. Also, I feel that this way, the 'might have beens' make the fluff poignant rather than soppy.
Author's Response: Thanks ^^ I think 'Shadow' would have been rather miffed to say the least at being associated with a funny, black and orange, magic-casting bear-puppet: amongst other things, Sooty is mute!
Author's Response: Thanks ^^ Yup, we have a healthy brood of canada geese cohabiting with our white and black swans where I live; I've always loved watching the waterbirds and it was fun to involve them in a story.
Author's Response: Thanks ^^, I'm glad you liked it (even though it made you cry)
Author's Response: Thanks for the review; yes, given Harry's interaction with the boa, I thought he'd be gorgeously cute with a long term pet. You're not the only one who wants to hex the Dursleys ;) |
