Reviews For Familiar
Love the way you managed to convey all the sentiments and passage of time with just dialogue. I love the basilisk and am glad that it got its happy ending. Snape fainting was funny. I can imagine him being all solicitous towards Harry now and Dumbledore smirking at Snape's changed request - from expulsion to requesting foe Harry to stay even during summers. The best part abt the story is that being only in dialogues, it leaves the rest up to the reader's imagination. Great work! Author's Response: Hehe, thank you! Before discovering Harry Potter, I wrote only Trek fanfiction, and I'm enjoying all the different possibilities the Potterverse provides - to quote Harry, I love magic! Yes, Snape will probably try hard to stay on Harry's good side; I can just imagine him snapping at Harry during the summer, and then trying to make amends to a sulking eleven-year-old, who is his only access to those invaluable potion ingredients... might make for a nice sequel, actually :)! I'm glad you enjoyed the dialogue style, it was great fun to write! Thank you so much for reviewing!
Thank you for giving Cy a happy ending. I, too, kind of felt sorry for the basilisk in the novels, what with it being controlled by Riddle/Voldemort. This is a lovely AU, and I'm definitely putting it on my re-read list. (And great job telling the story only in dialogue!) Author's Response: I'm glad you liked the story and the dialogue-only approach! Hagrid will be over the moon about the baby basilisks, and Snape too - all the more poison and scales for his potions! Thank you for reviewing!
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad you liked it.
I think the nicest thing about this is how Harry has a friend. Author's Response: Harry has a talent for making friends, it's true - even centuries-old poisonous giant snakes. And with any luck, he'll have one more friend soon, once Snape realizes that Harry is not the spoiled brat he took him for. Thank you for reviewing!
Author's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Author's Response: Thank you :)!
Author's Response: Thank you! Yes, I always thought that Harry should have talked to her before going all sword-happy... glad you liked the story!
And your ending made me laugh. This also makes me wonder what would happen to Quirrell/Voldie when/if he tried to hurt Harry. (sorry just had an image of Cy swallowing dead Quirrell, like a snake would swallow a rat.) Also like the bit of Harry not having to go to the Dursleys. (Well, Dumbledore was worried about Harry being safe from Death Eaters. I guess having a large basilisk would act as a bit of a deterrent. Or an invitation to up the ante.) Oh, if you feel like writing more of this universe I would read it. Imagine Cy eating Pettigrew, fake!Moody, or resurrected Voldemort. And getting rid of the Horcrux would be a bit easier, Harry could just ask Cy to bite them. (Which is probably what Dumbledore is attempting to locate at the end of your fic.) Author's Response: Yes, a pet basilisk would definitely come in handy, given Harry's tendency to attract trouble... and I never even thought of the Horcruxes, but Cy could indeed help destroy them! Thanks for reviewing, I'm glad you liked it!
Author's Response: Thank you, I'm glad you liked it!
Author's Response: Thank you! Yes, poor Sev, that was when his Slytherin self-preservation instincts kicked in... |
