Petunia in her bigotry couldnt have known that abuse appears in the "best" families. It doesnt correspond with education or lack of there of, or money, or social standing. Which is what it makes abuse so scary. It simply never goes away, no matter how rich and educated a society gets :(
Oh, no, I was afraid Harry would try something like this. The poor kid has had so much to deal with lately, and he's never had a strong support team, other than Ron and Hermione who are only kids themselves and limited in what they can do to help.
Thank goodness Severus was there in time!
