Reviews For My Secret Father
a) He raped Lily and Harry is the product, hence the reason why she refused to name him Harry Snape and why every time Snape looks at Harry he hates him for existing. But this seems unlikely as she added 'severus' to his name. Under such extreme conditions one would think she would want to distance herself and her child from such a monster. b) Lily and Snape were together, but Snape did something so heinous that she left him, married James Potter giving Harry a different father and name. This seems more likely, but wouldn't completely explain why Snape loathes Harry, and why he would want to see him suffer. Unless of course the animosity is fake... but why would Snape fake it? Oblivate? but why? It strikes me that you are yet to reveal who Kenai's mother is..... Perhaps she is blackmailing Snape? c)There is a plot afoot, involving a very manipulative headmaster. Snape nor Kenai hate Harry at all but rather are playing a part to maintain an image in the eyes of other death eaters, so that should Voldermort come back Snape would be able to spy. This seems unlikely as Kenai, although friends with the children of death eaters openly declared in the middle of a lesson that the Dark Lord was back. Not a very clever move if you are allied to him. d) Harry is not Snape's son, or he is and Snape doesn't believe it. We have yet to understand why Harry would believe so strongly that Snape was his father, when Snape refuses to acknowledge it. 'Severus' isn't such a rare name, nor is looking a bit like somebody else reason enough. I think you need to convince us a bit more. d) something else.... Must be something big if you would knowingly allow your son to grow up in an abusive environment, even if there is a blood protection on the Dursley's house I can't imagine him turning a blind eye. I am interested to find out if something will happen which will cause Harry to give Snape his diary to read. I think a scene where Harry confronts Snape about his actions could be explosive and really bring things to ahead moving the plot along nicely. From what we've seen so far I'm not sure if things are going to end well. CF x Author's Response: Remember that in Harry's photo inside the front of his journal, Severus and Lily are both smiling as Lily holds baby Harry. And have no fears, there will be a good ending. As for not knowing about Kenai's mother, this is because at this point I want the reader to know only what Harry knows, which isn't much yet because he's been sort of kept out of the Snape family loop. Thanks for the review!

It is a great story and I can't wait to read more of it.

Author's Response: Thank you for your insight. It is always good to get insight from readers. As a writer it is sometimes hard to imagine just how someone should be feeling as you are writing a story, so having outside help is nice. Thank you in that respect. I wanted to say though that sometimes, I think it is right that they would skip that step because I would imagine if I suddenly found out I had a child, I would not want to continue hating said child, and the same if I found out I had a parent. In some of my stories Snape's realization comes earlier and the hate continues until some pivitol moment when he decides he can no longer go on with the hate. I have also met some people in my life that have just been very accepting of things as they come along, as well as fast to forgive and forget. I'm sorry that you feel some of my stories move too fast. As for this story, I will say that at this moment, Snape's feelings are not all that they seem to be to Harry (although we haven't been hearing from Severus just yet). Harry perceives Severus not to care at all at this point, but we can't know for sure until we hear from him. So, if there is a pivitol point in this story where things change, I hope you will look at what comes after to see any awkwardness that there might be between them, although the hate will probably disappear. Thanks again for your review.
This story is very clever, and Kenai is bad ass even if he can be a dick. He reminds me of Damon from the Vampire Diaries. Great story! Author's Response: Yeah, Kenai is a little hard to write, because I want him to be a jerk but also have redeeming qualities for later in the story. And as for Severus hating him, you'll have to read on to find out! Lol, thanks for the review! |
