A lot of story packed into a short chap! Ministry brainwashing-- ugh! Probably explains Snape's memory loss. But now I'm wondering about Hermione's scar-- at least Snape's situation distracted her from the shawl momentarily! And poor Harry-- always angsting, even though not everything is always his fault...
Author's Response: Ministry brainwashing will come into light in future chapters... let's just say it wasn't nice, obviously. Hermione (& Ron) will be frequent guests at the Potters', as will Mrs. Weasley, so there's a chance that there will be something more about the scar in the future.

Oh poor Harry!
Author's Response: Don't you mean poor Sev? Or poor Hermione? Harry is not that bad in this chapter.
Poor Harry! He's going to spend all his time just getting the snarkiness back into Sev's attitude. And what happens if someone is unjustly enslaved? Can they be freed by the ministry?
Author's Response: That's a question that's I'm going to answer a bit in Ch 4, and in (hopefully) entirety in the Ch 7 or 8, not yet written.
