Oh, this is fun! I like that Harry is matter-of-fact, rather than teary or tragic.
Author's Response: Harry always did strike me as rather matter-of-fact about the abuse. He's a tough one. Most of the 'damage' from the abuse shows not in him getting weepy but in his pessimism, lack of self esteem and (generally speaking) distrusting adults to do their job (meaning, watch out for the kids in their care and deal with dangerous situations). He *may* go through a bout of the weepies later on, but I haven't decided yea or nay on that one yet.
Great story. It does seem believable that if Severus had only really looked at Harry in the beginning that he would have seen that Harry was rather unlike James.
Looking forward to further developments.
