Oh, whoa... That kinda made my hair stand on end, although Harry is obviously quite alive and well now! Fascinating start-- can't wait to see what you have in store! Loved the floating 4-year-old and the reference to caterwauling carolers! (Confundus through the keyhole--HA!) And so cute that Severus helped decorate the biscuits-- shows a good relationship between them!

    Author's Response:

Thank you, I'm glad you like it! I think the fact that he's not constantly observed by hundreds of students allowed Snape to be more relaxed and drop the "evil bat" persona once in a while... and of course Harry helped a lot, simply by being himself! Actually, I was tempted to include floating Harry in an extra scene... I could just see him all eager to help and creating chaos in the process!

Thank you very much for reviewing!

    Hi,

Great story1 I love the part where Harry tried to decorate the cauldrons and snitches by himself and made a gigantic mess! It reminds me of the time my nephew was five and wanted to "help" daddy bake cookies while mom was at work. His dad got a call on his cell, went to answer it and left his son alone in the kitchen with the cookie dough in a bowl. It only took about five minutes for him to have the dough all over the kitchen--the counter, the floor, everywhere including on the cookie sheets! Of course, at that precise instant, my sister walks in the door. She almost DIED! When she asked her son what he was doing he told her "helping dad bake!" She said it looked more like helping dad wreck the kitchen! And she sure wished she had magic to clean up!

We still laugh over that one!

I think Petunia must have sent the package with baby Harry in it. How cruel! He must have either contracted hypothermia or suffocated from being in the box. I'm not sure who else would have done such a thing.

In a way, this story reminds me of my Away in a Manger, since a similar thing happened to Harry there.

How old is Harry in this story?

    Author's Response:

Hehe, kids can make such a mess in the kitchen! And Harry seems to be as gifted as your nephew in that department :)...

I LOVE your story Away in a Manger (and it's a shame that I never reviewed, actually)! It's such a wonderful tale about growing up - both for Severus and Harry. I'm sure my story was partly inspired by the beginning of AIAM, which I have read and re-read at least five or six times. I hope you don't mind!

Harry as a baby is eighteen months old; Harry in the backstory is six years old, and has lived with Severus for five years.

Thank you very much for reviewing!

Oh my god, I would have fainted from shock! Can't imagine Snape fainting though...please update soon this is a great start!

Author's Response: I'm glad you like it! Sadly, Snape has probably seen worse in his Death Eater days... but even so, he was still shocked by the delivery. Thank you very much for reviewing!

This is so good! Can't wait for the next chapter!
Loved how childish Harry is and how normal Snape is. Definitely a change from the usual dour, snarky Snapes seen in Christmas stories!

Author's Response: I'm glad you like my version of Snape in this story; I think Harry taught him a lot over the years. Thank you very much for reviewing, the second part will be up soon!

Oh, I really LIKE this one. Poor 21, less than a month from being 22, year Severus. Package sent from Surrey, first thought is Petunia sent it. She knew Severus' address from when they were children and he would be the only one of 'those people' that she knew.

I so look forward to the next part.

Author's Response: Good guess - all shall be revealed in the next chapter! I'm glad you like it, thank you very much for reviewing!

Love this. What a difference the decision not to teach made to Severus' life. Great relationship between Harry and him too, with lots of smiley bits, and a proper back story.
Would anyone except Petunia know Snape's address and use Muggle post?
Looking forward to the next part of the story as much as Harry is!

Author's Response: I always felt that a huge part of Snape's bitterness is caused by his living and working in a place where he was never happy. So yes, deciding not to teach made a great difference. I'm glad you liked the Snape/Harry interaction, thank you! Part 2 will be up very soon.
